Team USA/Cardinals carrying the weight. Turner good too.

So if the Cardinals get credit for carrying the weight a couple games ago, does that mean we get to blame them for sh**ting the bed in the Championship game last night? Cant have your 3/4 hitters going 1 for 7, including killing a rally with a double play in the 7th inning.

Lars Nootbaar was born and raised in California but is playing for team Japan because his mom is Japanese? How does that make any sense? Cherry picking partial genetics to represent a country you aren't from is weird.

It's happens in the Olympics all the time. There was a guy who is Cuban who played for Mexico because that's where he defected to.I don't see an issue with it if you want to represent your family's heritage.

Yeah but Nootbaar doesn't live in Japan. He's an American who has always lived here. With that logic any Euro mutt white American could just go play for Great Britain or France. You should need citizenship to represent a country. It's probably not that serious, but its odd to me.

A lot of Americans who play for other countries don't live in those countries either. It happens all the time, players get nationalized and they're able to play for the different country. The WBC is a lot smaller than the Olympics so if it's good for them, it should be fine for a few baseball games.

Yup - and Hachimura was actually born in Japan. Japanese mother. He should be an actual japanese citizen.

Clarkson is more like Nootbaar. Mothers are from the old country but born and raised in the USA

Being a National is different than just having a parent from the country though. Nootbaar isnt a Japanese National. Like I said, its not that serious, but its just kind of weird that you can play for a country based on ethnic heritage rather than actually being a citizen.

I believe Olympic ice hockey does that all the time.
