Lars Nootbaar was born and raised in California but is playing for team Japan because his mom is Japanese? How does that make any sense? Cherry picking partial genetics to represent a country you aren't from is weird.

It's happens in the Olympics all the time. There was a guy who is Cuban who played for Mexico because that's where he defected to.I don't see an issue with it if you want to represent your family's heritage.
