Doval had 33 saves on August 3rd. Tonight he recorded number 39, nearly two months later. The Giants have been absolutely pathetic in August and September. Doval only has one BS in that span. He's hardly had any opportunities to actually take the ball with a lead.

Like I've brought up before, apparently someone in Seiya Suzuki's camp said that the city of SF doesn't have a great reputation in Japan. He made it sound like it is seen as a dirty, crime ridden city, and not very appealing to Japanese players. No idea if thats true, but we certainly don't seem to ever land Japanese players.
Ultimately were just not ready to win right now, and Ohtani is. He's not going to sign here and wait for the core players to develop.
Maybe, I'm just a dreamer. Might, be right - we're a year or two away from challenging for at least the division title.

Talentless, my ass. We just need an ace and a power bat. We have young and veteran talent, they just need time to play together. We're fine, party pooper. We're a hell of a lot further along than the Angels. We'll be in the mix for Ohtani as much as the Yankees, Dodgers or anyone else.
lol why would Ohtani sign here? You're a delusional homer if you think this is a prime spot to sign right now. Ohtani wants to win. We don't even have a manager.
He can win here, too - if he can wait a year or two. Great Japanese community in San Francisco. We got that going for us.

The SF reputation hurts players from the US as well. Especially the Red states.
SF is a mess right now, but since it's near bottom and an election coming up it has to get better.

It's recovering, but not as bad as it was a couple of years ago. Show me the money is what Ohtani wants to see. We'll be in it, but it'll be a long shot.

Ohtani has already stated he wants to win now.

Showalter is not returning to the Mets next year. What about him as our new skipper?

I'm not getting sucked in by any player signing rumors this year. I'll wait until the ink is dry.

Get ready for an entire November and December dedicated to "Sources indicate that Shohei Ohtani has been communicating with the Giants front office. An official meeting at an undisclosed location has been discussed."
The conditions will be perfect for it. A player looking to maximize a mega-deal, and a west coast Giants team desperate for a star player. Ohtani's camp will definitely be stringing the Giants along as far as possible to get a team like LA or NY to give him what he wants. It's going to be weeks and weeks of "This might actually be happening. The interest in mutual. Ohtani has arrived at SFO."
I refuse to fall for any of it again. Every offseason is a toxic combination of agents leaking fake rumors, and the media pouring gallons of fuel on the fire to generate content.
