That was the 8th walk off loss for the Giants this year. Think about that.

8th walk off loss this year? I know they've had a few. That's probably league-leading. Unacceptable.

Was that the worst loss of the season or nah?

Yes because it was against the Dodgers who are injured (like us) and won a bullpen game.

they had 14 blown saves way back, no idea what it is now. 8th walk off...thats obviously only half the story. The bullpen is not good enough to compete in the playoffs where its absolutely about pitching, good defense and timely hitting.

Check the stats, the away homers, run differential...this team can hit and score. Read this thread and you would think the #1 priority is to get a OFer. Even last night, this team had a 6 run lead in the last inning and couldnt get an out.

We trade for Bryant yet? lmao

Agreed, the bullpen as it is would be a big Achilles' heel for this team in the playoffs. They could really use a strong closer and I keep thinking about the possibility of a guy like Kimbrel on the Cubs. So, you get it to the 7th and you go with Rogers, 8th w/ McGee, and then a guy like Kimbrel to bring it home. Could be a good formula for wins in making this team that much tougher in the later innings.

I don't think anyone would deny Kimbrel would be helpful. The question is the cost. There is going to be a lot of competition to acquire him which is going to drive up the price.

Yeah, true. Kimbrel's having a real good year. 22 saves out of 24 save opportunities, 0.52 ERA.
Quality relievers aren't cheap.

Hopefully they can figure something out with Patrick Bailey. The way he's hitting the eastern league would be a nightmare for him.

Closers aren't, but non closers are pretty cheap compared to big ticket guys like Kris Bryant.

We gave up Susac and Bickford for Will Smith, that's a decent barometer.
Last night's game was lost when, I think top 7, we got 2 on 1st and 2nd and ruf struck out posey popped out and Yaz I think lined out. It was right after dryers got momentum and cut it to 5-6. When we didn't score I knew it was over. However it would turn out was regardless

I didn't like PH for Wade Jr with Ruf.

Me either and then the strike just doubled down on the mistake in hindsight but oh well.
Estrada looks like Kyler Murray.

Bickford had fallen off at the time, and Susac was a AAAA backup C. Smith was pretty cheap.
