You said hitting isn't the issue. I am telling you that hitting IS the issue when you cant score runs or hit with men on base.

In my opinion, they have a flawed lineup. They also have a weak bullpen and marginal starting rotation. That isnt the manager's fault but more the fault of the guy who put the team together.

All of this.
Why on earth would you pitch to PCA with 2 outs and the bases empty? Idiotic management. Walk him and face Ballesteros. 🙄
Reason 4545423423455 why Buster needs to overhaul the bullpen.

You mean the bulls**t pen. This has to be one of their priorities in the off season. They can't go into another season with these guys. Remember how good we felt when Bochy went to the bullpen and always seemed to make the right call. He had a guy for nearly every situation.

I turned on the TV this morning to watch the San Jose Giants so I could see Jhonny Level (#3 prospect) who's been tearing it up. I found out he wasn't playing because he's been promoted to Eugene (high A). They're playing him a 2nd base for now. He's only been there about a week but he's still batting about the same as he was in San Jose. The Giants #1 and #2 prospects are rookies and both play shortstop so that may be why they're trying him at 2nd.

Certainly. But the question is how much money will be allowed to spend on pitching. Offense is packed to the hilt, and those big contracts are not going anywhere. OK, assuming the offense had found itself (big if given how inconsistent it is until shown otherwise), and not a single $ to be spend on it in the offseason, the premium pitching does not cost bargain basement and dumpster dive money either. And they would still need two starters along with practically the entire bullpen, especially 7-8 innings set up guys and premium closer. Assuming McDonald gets the permanent nod but with Ray being a FA. Preferably one of them being solid 2 behind Webb. Where is Posey going to get that kind of money? It's too late to go back to 2010, 2012, 2014 formula and I am not sure it absolutely would work in today's MLB, especially with what the NL West is today, and your 3 front line starters don't come close to the three studs back then, maybe only Webb.

I'm not a fan of paying big money for free agent pitchers. Too many end up being dead weight. If I give out big contracts for free agents I want an everyday player. Pitchers end up with arm issues too often. They need to do a better jib drafting pitchers. They've only selected a pitcher in the 1st round once since 2017 will focusing on position players The problem with trying to draft a pitcher is development is often slower than for position guys and of course the inevitable arm issues are always lurking.

If you are not fan paying big money to pitchers, enjoy every other game of great closer K Winn. By the way, the ownership group is also "not big fans of paying big money to anyone" after payroll reaches the budget line.
Imagine actually having a bullpen

Webb is home grown and he was pitchig well enough to finish that game. His pitch count wasn't high. As soon as I saw that Winn was going to open the 9th I said oh no. I don't like paying big money for free agent pitchers because pitchers are so fickle. Too many end up with arm trouble. Every little tweak or pain puts them on the IR. I prefer developing pitchers in the farm system rather than saddling yourself with a big free agent contract.

The Giants had a run where they were developing a lot of pitchers. Now they're trying to develop position players. Why can't they do both. It can't be all hitting or all pitching.

Its crazy how bad the pen is and how many games they give away.
i hoped the pen would be better, but they gotta get some of these dudes experience and see if any of the farm guys can be 7 8 or 9th dudes.
realistically we knew the pen was a weakness
dylan smith looks promising

also - all the trade webb noise is so funny/ridiculous. trade for what/who? a bat?? pitching prospects? that doesnt make sense , we arent the a's. webb is a #1 inning eater and strikeout crown contender yearly. these guys dont grow on trees.
