2026 San Francisco Giants Season Thread

I can see playing Susac as long as he continues to hit. However it's unrealistic to think he will hit like this long term. Once teams get a better look at him his weaknesses will be exposed. If he shows he can hit around .240-.250 then maybe he bercomes the everyday catcher and Bailey becomes the backup. We've seen players have hot starts in the past only to come back to earth. Look at Ramos. Two years ago he was an all star. Now he's leading the team with 20 SOs in 47 ABs. One good month or even one good season doesn't make a good player.

I'm glad you posted this. I was really thinking he was going to bat .857 for the year and break all the hitting records for average.

Also, when the giants lose there is 2 pages of posts. When they win, 1-2 posts. And people think the thread isn't full of negative people.

I was hoping he would bat at least .600 for the year, which would still set records.

We just need to infuse a little hope. People are saying that Bailey deserves to be the starter because of the 2 gold gloves and how he 'commands' the pitching. Susac did catch a shut out and has a good arm. I think he was a 1st rounder for a reason.

My issue with Bailey is he has been for the most part bad in clutch hitting positions. When he strikes out he's swinging no where near the ball. He's a switch hitter and back in the day switch hitters were actually good hitters. Bailey is mediocre both ways.

I didn't say he would hit .857. I was just saying it's unrealitic to think he will continue to hit well. Some fans think he's going to be better than Bailey. He may well be but a small sample like this isn't proof of anything. I hope he shows he can be an every day catcher or at least platoon with Bailey. However Bailey has 2 gold gloves and some pitchers may prefer him behind the plate.

As far as the posts go, the Giants haven't been an exciting team for the last couple years so most of the posts will be negative. I'm sure there would be plenty of posts if they go on a 7 game win streak.

There's nothing exciting about this team regardless if they are hot or cold. They haven't done anything to excite the fanbase since that abnormal 2021 season.

Yah I guess we can always hope they turn it around and have another abnormal season.

They're 5-5 since the Yankees series.

Or we can b***h about s**t all day. Oh look, 2 wins in a row and no comments. But when they lose the usual suspects come flocking to post.
JHL may need one of those mysterious IL stints.

Bro getting paid $23 million this year to hit .143
Yay, Giants win! Seeing Devers with the clutch HR was pretty sweet!

Or you let him work through it. He's had 49 plate appearances. He's hit .260+ in two years. Last year he hit .266 with 51 x base hits. You really think he's hitting .143 all year?

Chapman is a career .241 hitter hitting .300 right now. Is he hitting .300 all year or will he magically return to the norm?

You guys overreact so much is crazy. Its a 162 game season and it just started. lmao.

I'm not saying this team is winning the WS. I'm not even saying they are getting a wild card spot. But its wild we get crickets during wins and people love to post during losses...mixed with overreactions.

The wins are great but how are fans supposed to react? As you said they aren't likely to win a WS. Getting in the playoffs would be great after the disappointing seasons we've had. Fans getting excited over 2 wins isn't any better than fans beng bummed out after the losses.

I'm not giving up on this team yet. How can I. I've been a fan since they moved to SF. I want to see at least 40-50 games before I decide if they have any real shot. They have anew manager with new coaches. They added a couple new players in Arraez and Bader. It may take time for the players to adjust.

If the end up being a .500 team agian I'll still be a fan. Just a disappointed fan.

I'm going to stop talking about this after this reply because its clear the point isn't going across. I am not telling anyone to be optimistic about anything. What I am saying is dudes come in here and make 2-3 posts after every loss but not a single post when they win. It reads like they love b***hing about the losses. This thread is a b***h fest mixed with overreactions. The season just started and people are in here making career judgments. Its wild. I have been on this site for a decade before the giants ever won a WS in 2010. And most of it was as a mod and the guy who made the Giants season threads. So I know what giants fan disapointment looks like on a board. Never seen this kind of overreactive, uninformed constant b***hing like it is now. Even when they weren't good this thread was still enjoyable. Its absolute s**t now. Its ninertalk in giants content.

Do what you guys want. If coming in here when they lose and b***hing is what makes you happy, go for it. I can see why john, 99, etc. stopped posting.

I don't disagree with you on this but unfortunately that's part of what fans do. Not just on the Giants sight but every sports website. It makes for more discussion. Just like the sports writers that always write negative stories. They get more feedback and following than the guys that just constantly write about how great the team is. Fans will never change.
