Eldridge needs to get better and quick.

His fielding has improved a lot but he still has a way to go. People have to realize that he never played that postion before. Fans think it's easy but Schmitt is a good 3rd baseman and not a great first baseman. There are subtle differences that not evey player can master. He can play but his weaknesses will show up if he's there everyday. Being that height can be a benefit on high throws but it makes it harder on low throws. Agility and footwork are always going to be an issue. If he shows that he can hit MLB pitching he'll play. Some days at first but probably mostly at DH.

I wish they had been able to resign Dom Smith. He was a great 1st baseman and not a bad hitter. Unfortunatley he realized his playing time would be limited with Devers here and Eldridge as a possible future starter so he moved on.
