Steve Phillips this morning said when he was the Mets GM they lost the first game to Miami one year. Headline in the paper the next day was "Hundred Million Dollar Bust" lol

I don't have Netflix so I missed that. I listened on radio for an old time experience. Unfortunately I dozed off with so littlw action. Remember fans we started off really well last season and we know how that turned out. The good sign last night was the Giants weren't striking out a lot. That's a step in the right direction.

No one is freaking out, I certainly don't. If they had good offensive showing last year, I wouldn't even blink an eye last night. But on the heels of last year's offense, it is just naturally a bit concerning, even though it is just one game.

oh really. PItching is worse. Adames showing his worth even though he's the first giant since 2004 (Bonds) to hit 30 HRs in a season.

While it would have been nice to win the opening game, at home, on the national stage against the Yankees to boost the morale, what I really meant is it is not the loss that bothers me at all. If they would have lost 7-5 in a competitive game, showing they can hit and score runs against the opposition's best pitcher, just couldn't overcome their own bad pitching, I would have been just fine. Maybe it's because my biggest concern is that offense has to carry the Giants to the WC spot if they are to get there. In the shadows of the last year's offense that practically has the same big cogs.

I suspect the pitching will be slightly worse than last year. The word "suspect" is not the definite statement of that to absolutely happen. By the way, it is overall speculative consensus of a lot of baseball people, including the media and analysts close to the Giants. Therefore, my take is, ok if that is the case, offense must carry the team. On paper they have the players to do so. I definitely need to see that, but there is obviously no panic after one game.
As to the comments by others, you had exemplified, if they are serious and not the spontaneous knee jerking reaction in the heat of the moment, I agree that is kind of foolish.

You are looking at this as one game vice a continual pattern. You are one of the most negative posters in thread. If you enjoy reading everyone sucks all day, have at it. Not my idea of engaging conversation or something I want to read everyday. And some of the posts, like Lee and Adames showing their worth, are stupid as f**k. And it happens all the time. But if that is your deal, you are in the right place.
