2026 San Francisco Giants Season Thread

Welcome to the Giants, Drew Gilbert:

I met and talked with Charlie Szykowny and Scott Bandura while in a grocery store in Eugene. I've been following thier careers ever since. Scott is now in Richmond Charlie has really started to hit since they moved him from 3rd to 1st base. He's already 25 so he needs to start moving up in the organization pretty soon.

J T Snow said Eldridge is making progress at first so hopefully they let him continue to learn in AAA the last 2 months of the season. Maybe next spring he'll be ready to challenge for a job in the majors. He still has some holes in his swing that causes him to SO about one out of every 3 ABs and that's at the AAA level. It would likely be worse in the majors. Matos was batting .272 in Sacramento but he's batting about 100 points lower in the majors. If you have a weakness they find it quickly. The power isn't going to leave Eldridge. He just needs to make contact more often.

No. In the 70s I was chasing women. Not nerf footballs. That purple is on the unis for the same reason the Giants use it. It's a reference to the NYU basebasll team that used those colors back in the early 1900s.

Ha, well I was in elementary school back then and Nerf footballs were the thing to have if you liked football as they were easy to carry around, easy to throw, didn't have to deal with pumping them up, etc. We used to play out in the school grass fields a game called 'Smear the Q***r,' where you run around with the football until someone tackles you and then that person gets the ball and tries to avoid being tackled.

Early game for the Giants today, 10:40 am Pacific. Whisenhunt's second start. Not easy against that Mets lineup. Would be great if they could pull out a win today and take the series on the road against a very good team.

A lot of people played with a nerf football in ther parking lots when tailgating.

For me the rest of the season is about seeing how they play out the string when their chances are slim. Will they fold or show heart? Will Matos or McCray step up and take the RF job? Will Whisenhunt show he can pitch at the MLB level? My guess is Posey is looking at the same things and more since he has to decide on the future of the manager and coaching staff.

Man a W against the Mets would be a nice confidence boosts after the Pirates fiasco . So nice seeing these boys put that bat on the ball and getting some damn hits

I think McCray will improve as he looks more motivated. Matos doesn't move the needle right now.

Hope the Mets series hitting bodes well for the rest of the year and certainly next year if it's too late for this year. Though I'd like to see how the hitting and run production will continue, especially at Oracle for the rest of the year. If hitting next year is sustained, especially with Eldridge taking over at 1st, they can afford to carry Bailey with some improved offense. They would really need RF, 2nd base and pitching to be a very decent, definitely WC contending ballclub.
The way Lee hits in NY the Giants could probably get 3 good prospects for him from either the Yankees or the Mets.

Lucchesi is in the pen. For the 8th? Why am I worried even with the 5 run lead.

Unless matos makes huge strides hes a 5th outfielder like mccray
Adames and Chapman are 0-8 today...
12-4 giants and they took the series. The Mets are just in a different class. Giants should sell everyone. Lee with 4 hits, a double, a walk and a SB all in garbage time. I'd trade him right now. He's awful.

Excellent series win! Nice to see the bats come alive. Lee's picking it up - on base five times today.
Whisenhunt was solid today. A HR in the first and then was solid the rest of his outing. He does need to develop a curve or work on that slider.
