2026 San Francisco Giants Season Thread

I'm wondering if the Giants will ever move Rodriguez into the closers role. His performance this year is far better than Doval. I would like to see him as the closer and Tyler Rogers as the setup guy. Move Doval into the 6th or 7th inning spot. That way if he starts walking guys and giving up runs the team has a couple innings to respond.

The worst thing late inning relievers can do is walk guys. Rodriguez and Rogers both are good at not giving up walks. Doval seems to do it nearly every time he goes out there. Bring in Rogers in the 8th with that crazy delivery and slow breaking stuff and then following with a hard thrower like Rodriguez seems like it could be effective. The only question is does Rodiguez have the mental makeup to be closer. He seems pretty calm.

Too bad the all star break will probably cool him back off

Will had no choice there but to go All In.

I remember when Rodríguez blew that 4 run save this year in the 9th. He's been amazing this year in his role. Using him more is the only change I'd go for. Just because the guy is a really good reliever doesn't mean he's a good closer.

Is it just me, or is it weird that Ramos is playing defense with his giant oven mitt in his back pocket? Seems like it'd be easier to run and make plays without that thing in there
everyone knew Lee was gonna strike out, Lee and matos the rally killers
Lee and matos are just automatic outs, they can't even be counted on for a sac fly
1 run with bases loaded nobody out, f**king knew it tho once I saw Lee matos Bailey were batting next
The Giants would score 1 run like that in that situation
Would have been a shutout without Bailey's piss poor effort on a ball in the dirt.
Doval walking the first hitter on base is tradition at this point.
This thread gets a lot of energy when things aren't going right and pretty much crickets when they win. Just saying.
Good win last night vs. a good team. Phillies have a formidable offense. Real good outing from Roupp (yet again) and the BP.

Nice to see Chapman back and contributing again right away. This is a different team with him in the lineup.

I said at the end of my post that the only qusetion is whether he can handle the mental part of being a closer. That's a question that can't be answered until he tries. Just because he blew one save attempt doesn't mean he can't handle the job. Every reliever blows a save now and then. I just prefer a guy that doesn't walk a lot of batters and Doval walks too many.
