The ugly truth is Kapler did more with way less. Melvin is overrated.

yeah he does, he's ice cold.
Send him down , dude is a liability at this point
I doubt they would send him down but it wouldn't be a bad thing for him to spend a few games in Sacramento. Maybe he can get his confidece back or work on his swing. He's really like a AAA player that's in his first full season. I say that because most baseball people feel the KBO is about AAA level ball. Many AAA players go back down after a shot in the majors to work on weaknesses. Right now he looks frustrated.

Melvin isn't the reason all these guys are struggling with runners on base. Not his fault that Devers is 1-15 with 12 SOs in his last 3 games. The Giants seem to be settling into their old .500 spot.
This team is so boring right now that I actually switched over and watched the soccer match between the US and Costa Rica. Never thought I would say this but it was more exciting than the Giants game.

Lee is definitely struggling but the whole damn team is struggling. You can't send everyone to AAA to reset. Whatever Melvin is doing isn't working. Instead of shaking it up everyday to create a spark, try some stability and giving guys a day off. And get back to what they were doing at the beginning of the year. Play small ball...bunt, steal bases, hit and run, etc. They look like they are trying to go yard every AB.
I think Melvin has done a good job with the pitching staff, but not hitting. I don't think Melvin is the long term answer but you guys have to realize the majority of this slump is on the players. Really good hitters are hurt, or massively slumping. Way too many strike outs. Even when they string hits together, they can't do it with RISP.
I think some of this is what the giants were supposed to be this year and some is they are in a deep funk. In previous years they called a player up from AAA and it provided a spark. The well is dry. Maybe the spark is when Chapman returns. Hopefully.

The reason I stated that was his San Diego experience when he had the talent 5 times better than what the Giants had and did absolutely nothing with it.

he's a 3x manager of the year with a lot of experience and a winning record. i don't see him as the problem. we are paying good hitters. they need to hit.

Melvin getting an extension is an absolute joke at this point. Other than 3 bullpen arms, Robbie Ray and Logan Webb, the ENTIRE team is underperforming.

And I was a substitute midfielder on the 1975 NCAA soccer championship team. That was 50 years ago. I am not a good soccer player now. I don't care who he was, the game can pass you by and leave you behind. And I am not saying he is the sole reason, the players ultimately decide as in any sports. However, the good manager needs to do and often does something to shake things up (not just play the musical chairs with the batting order, that could be detrimental as well) I don't see him do anything other than repeat the same "we need to" mantra after every loss.

I'm not saying Melvin is a great manager but look at the roster. It's very flawed with too many automatic outs. The Giants best hitter this year has been Flores. Let that sink in for a minute. Lol
Switch Dave Roberts and Bob Melvin and tell me what difference the standings would be. I would argue that there would be little difference because it comes down to the players and money much more than the manager.

Buster's taking the blame.
Buster Posey just said something I have not often heard from baseball bosses during a rough stretch … "If anybody deserves any blame from the top, it should be on me. It shouldn't be on our manager or coaching staff. I'm the one who sets the roster."

Giants are the opposing teams get right series, now dbacks went from under .500 to over .500 , teams must be salivating to play the giants to get back on track , can only laugh at this point
