2026 San Francisco Giants Season Thread

I'd like to see some of them be more aggressive but I don't think this is the problem. The giants set out to hit the first pitch against Montero the other day because the stats show his first pitch is where he takes damage and it didnt produce results.

The real issue is they just haven't hit well with RISP outside Flores. Chapman was 0-2 last night with RISP. First inning with two on he struck out. And again in the 9th. Giants were 0-4 with RISP last night overall. They had almost the same amount of hits as the tigers but couldn't drive anyone in. And they haven't hit that many HRs as a team lately.

To quote a great philosopher, they just need to get hot. And Wade sucks dick as a hitter.

2 men on and they fail to score. After I talked Koss' bunting up, he fails twice there and then Yaz rolls one over to kill the inning.
Cant even score the man from third with zero outs.

What a f**king joke.
There you go.

This team is just in a losing spin right now. When they pitch well which is nearly every game they don't hit. When they hit well the other team has one big inning and they still lose. Chapman getrs 3 hits. Ramos gets 3 hits and they still lose. You can't win a lot of games when only one or two guys at a time are hitting. Every time one guy gerts hot another one cools off. It's a good thing they started off hot this year and the Dodgers pitching has been riduled with injuries. Otherwise they would be 10 games back.

By the way, something else is hindering the Giants besides masquerading offense, poor ownership structure and inability to develop anything and anyone. Mediocre manager. Very nice guy and very mediocre manager. He had the team in San Diego 5 times better than current Giants team and didn't sniff the playoffs.
Think about that

melvin he's a good hire and good manager. he's 21st all time in wins. bob melvin was above .500, with the Oakland As. we are off to a good start this season, and it's one of the toughest divisions. LA built a death star of a team, and as i do a standings check, we are 3 games back. i feel we are in good hands in terms of the manager.

yup, if they had scored 8 runs today then they woulda lost 8-9
They are trying out Luciano at 1B right now alongside Encarnacion btw.

They've tried him at SS, 2nd base, LF and now 1st base. Maybe he just can't field well.

he can't do much of anything well tbh. we should trade him and hope some other team still views him as having 'potential'

Nobody in Sacramento is hitting the ball well. Luciano is sporting an average of .216 in what is supposed to be a "hitter friendly" league. In fact, nobody on that Sacramento team sports an average of over .250. There is no offensive "savior" in Triple A. Not on the Rivercats anyway. Eldridge is hitting .294 in AA ball. He may be the next big hope.

Eldridge can hit but his fielding is terrible. His stats in the minors would rank him last in ther majors.

As time progresses I think many Giants fans will realize that the FarSide years were the worst it has ever been for the SF Giants. I cannot remember when a team drafted so poorly.

It goes back farther than that. The Giants have donew a good job drafting pitchers over the years. Position players not so much. They had Williams, Clark and Robby Thompson in the 80's. The got several solid years at SS out of Crawford although he was never a great hitter. Belt was good at 1st base but inconsistent at the plate. He would get hot for a week and then slump for 3 weeks. He nver became the power hitter they really needed. Posey was great during his time here.

Other than those players they haven't really developed any position players that stand out. Ramos is the best OF in over 40 years. They've had different owners. Different GMs. Different managers. Different scouts. Same results. I see other teams in smaller markets with fewer resources that seem able to find quality players. I just can't understand why the Giants have so much trouble.
