Man he was so sick
He was like a meteor. Burned really bright for a short time and flamed out suddenly. He was near the top in the league for his first 4 full seasons. Back to back Cy Young awards and leading the league in SOs 3 straight seasons. Then he suddenly started losing velocity and he struggled for his final 4 seasons with the Giants. He became a reliever in the final 2 years.
I don't know if I've ever seen a pitcher burst on the scene like he did with such nasty stuff and then flame out just as suddenly without having a major arm or shoulder injury.
Yeah that funky throwing delivery he put on his core took it's toll once he hit the major league. And he wasn't a big body pitcher when compared to Cain so it was only a matter of time.
I remember going to his first game and it was against the Phillies ( i think ) and I missed his first strikeout because this fat woman walked in front of me right when he threw it lol
