He still has some value because he can play 1st and 3rd or DH. I'd prefer him over Slater if one has to go. Plus you never know with a veteran like him could get hot for a couple weeks while some of the other players are trying to get healthy.

This team needs Flores to get hot probably more than anyone

I think some of our young guns are slow starters, we may have more talent coming up then the rankings show.
If Ramos keeps this up, he might be able to sneak into the All Star Game.

Please elaborate.
Trippy that Ramos has the 2nd best OPS of any outfielder in the National League with a minimum of 100 PA
They sent Matos back down because he's been in a long slump. Since that red hot start he's really tpered off. I don't want to see Slater leading off but Matos has options so they want him to go back and work on some things. I'm hoping he's back soon. Maybe after the all star break.

Right now he's a better option at 1st base until Wade comes back.

You never really know how young players are going to develop. Some guys come up and they actually play better than they did in the minors. It's not uncommon to see a young player come up and hit well for a week or two and then taper off. We saw it with Schmitt last season. Matos and Wisely this year. Ramos has been up and down a few times and looks like he may have finally figured it out. He's playing good defense and is batting around .300. He's showing some real power too and we all know that this team needs that. He looks like he's built like a rock. I was about to give up on him and felt this was his last shot. He's making the most of it.

I don't think anyone has said anything otherwise.

we shouldn't encourage him to do that, he can pay for a ticket like everyone else
much ado about Matos, look folks, here's the deal

Slater is a vet, and he hits opposite sided pitching and is a natural platoon or companion piece to Yaz. Yaz will start more often, as we face more righties, meaning Slater will often be available as an ambush late game ph AB vs lefty relievers. He can play infield and outfield. Matos was 2/22 and 8/51. He will be back. Slater hardly played this season, let's not use this season numbers as representative of who he is, he has a larger body of work we can point to. And if Slater can't get it going, he won't last.
