The most annoying thing our fans say lol
It's f**king dumb, if you have legit power you can hit in this ballpark. Ownership, Farhan, the team struggling for years now have to be the reasons they're not coming here. I've see guys like Soto who's a lefty when he was in SD hit homers to left even. Speaking of I'm not even going to entertain the thought of him coming here when it's an easy call it's gonna be a Judge situation again when he's using teams to stay in NY. NY is just an easy fit for him
Exactly. If you're a slugging lefty, you might lose 2 homeruns a season from triples alley. But besides that, it's probably my most hated excuse our fans say when we don't get a slugger
People say it's hard for left handed hitters to hit HRs at Oracle. Not if they have real power and not warning track power. If they are strong pull hitters the right field wall is short down the lines. If they have oppo field power the ball carries pretty good to right center. Even if they lose a couple HRs per year in triples ally they still play half their games on the road.

Players that have fringe power are the ones that really suffer. Guys like Judge and Stanton have enough power to hit it out anywhere.

The Giants are my 2nd favorite team in sports (the Niners have always been far and away #1) and I'll always care and always root for them. Have been a Giants fan since 1977 when I was little (McCovey, Clark, Madlock, LeMaster, Montefusco, etc.). I'll always be grateful for the three championships in five years and the great homegrown talent that played a huge part in producing those titles (Posey, Crawford, Belt, Sandoval, Lincecum, Bumgarner, Cain, Romo).
That said, even during those championship years and especially thereafter, the Giants have never produced anything close to a major power hitter like we see come through other teams' farm systems. Watching Judge last night, who grew up not too far from here near Stockton...he is definitely a very extreme example with raw power rarely seen but it just serves as a painful reminder about the Giants & their drafting over the past many years. How about just producing one (1!) power hitter who can consistently hit 35-40 HRs? An outfielder would be nice but really just ANY position player.
Went back and looked at the 1st Rd. of that 2013 draft when the Yankees took Judge at #32...the Giants drafted Christian Arroyo seven spots earlier at #25. Then looked at the Giants' first round picks from 2014 to current to see the drafted talent in general, hitters, pitchers, etc...it's not pretty, and I didn't need the reminder. Bailey does seem to be progressing well as hopefully the starting C for years to come. Ramos is also doing better and hopefully he can keep improving and be consistent. Regarding the more recent picks, Bednar, Crawford, and Eldridge, we'll see and hoping for the best. Eldridge is only 19 and seems promising as a position player who could develop and produce some pop...6'7", 223 lbs, lefty who is already rated as one of the team's Top 5 prospects.
Rant over. Go Giants!
Giants tonight, heavy on the call-ups: Matos CF, Flores 1B, Bailey C, Chapman 3B, Yaz RF, Ramos LF, Brooks DH, Schmitt SS, Wisely 2B. Webb RHP

Glad Schmitt is back up. Hope he can put together some hits.

lol id say 20 years of ALL lefties struggling to hit for power at Oracle is a pretty convincing sample size. Its not the dimensions of the park, its the cold, wet, sea level air, and the wind patterns that wrap around the right side of the stadium and blow inwards from RF.
