It's more than just the pitch clock. It's his body language and demeanor. I used to think it was him just acting cool, about to pop 100 on the radar gun. But now I'm leaning towards clueless.
He would have had 4 pitch clock violations last night. One wasn't called, Chapman smartly called a timeout with one second left and the batter had 3 balls. It Would have been ball 4 and put a runner on and changed the ninth inning. One Bailey called time. And one he used his disengage. 2 position players saved him or Doval is putting runners on base for free.
and he refuses to change his approach. Anyone can steal off him and teams know it. Garce could swipe a bag off Dovall. Pretty much anyone gets one in the ninth and they're running.
That's a lot of born talent to stand on the mound like you don't give a s**t, make mental errors, then pop a 100 on the gun.
pitching isn't just arm talent. He needs to work on his mental game and be aware of the game and situation. I love to watch him pitch because his stuff is so nasty. But damn he's also hard to watch with his aloofness.

He seems to have a lot of issues with that device that allows him to get the signals from the catcher. How about using the fingers the way they used to. It worked for over 150 years. Is the old way too complex for players in this era? I know that he had one that was in English instead of Spanish. Sometimes the crowd noise just makes it hard to hear. I hate those things. Go back to the catchers finger signals. It wouldn't hurt to add 5 seconds r so to the pitch clock.

I am not saying that I think we need to adjust rules because our own closer is a knucklehead, but I honestly dont see the problem with having a slightly longer pitch clock down the stretch of games. NBA has different clock rules at the end of games. The NFL has different clock rules at the end of games. I dont think it would be the worst thing to have MLB games have different pitch time in the 8th and 9th innings.

I'm hoping they give a little more time across the board. I do think there is something to the pitch clock adding to the injuries. But until then Doval needs to adapt. Last night was crazy.

"I still don't know what happened," Doval said in Spanish. "But I'm always ready when they need me. When the phone rings and my name is called, I transform."

why are we being hard on Camilo, I think it's pretty cool he came in with no warmup and got the result

It's going to cost the team eventually, this situation shouldn't be an issue at this point.
