Now that is a comparison. Luciano is not in the same universe as Francisco Lindor, a multi-time AS/SS/GG Winner, Lindor is infinitely better in all aspects.

Defense being less important .... At shortstop, I would argue that is not the case. At minimum, they are equal. But I think defense is more important for SS, albeit, they are still both important.

And Casey Schmitt is no Andrelton Simmons. I wasn't comparing Lindor to Luciano. 🙄

the whole SS discussion now is dumb because the team decided 99 was correct when they made that transaction. Clearly.

Its almost as if they signed a guy at Schmitt's main position for a lot of money . Meanwhile, Luciano has no one blocking him yet the great 34 year old Nick Ahmed, who's not even on the 40 man, is about to overtake him.

Still waiting on that Luciano vs. Francisco Peguero scouting report. You think Luciano is a bust, but you loved Peguero as a future star. Break that one down.
Have you seen Murphy throw ? eesh. Sure we want to let our 400 hitting catcher walk ?
Good thing we didn't sign Ohtani…..that boy going down !
I'll be shocked if MLB doesn't do whatever it takes to save their golden boy and LA. Ohtani brings in millions for them, unless he's 100% guilty I just don't see it

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39768770/dodgers-shohei-ohtani-interpreter-fired-theft

The Los Angeles Dodgers interpreter for Shohei Ohtani was fired Wednesday afternoon after questions surrounding at least $4.5 million in wire transfers sent from Ohtani's bank account to a bookmaking operation set off a series of events.

Here is another story from the LA Times.

Question is: Is Ohtani's "interpreter" taking the fall, or was he placing bets on behalf of Shohei?

The whole thing stinks to high heaven

Don't expect any consequences that's the cash cow team and cash cow player

This isn't a huge surprise because gambling is big in many Asian cultures.
MLB could suspend him for half the season or even the whole season if they find he's guilty of gambling. All it does is take away the Dodgers DH since he can't pitch this season anyway. Let him spend the year rehabbing that arm.

If he's caught gambling on baseball, he will probably get the Pete Rose sentence.
Yamamoto got slapped

Manfred gonna give him a slap on the wrist. Aka the Astros punishment.
Didn't ohtani have an opt out clause if his interpreter got fired?

No, its only if Andrew Friedman or Mark Walter leave the organization.

J.P. Hoonstra of Dodger Nation mentions that Ohtani's clauses stipulate that the team must provide an interpreter for the player, but that it does not specify that Mizuhara must necessarily fill that role, meaning there is no option to opt out of the contract.

Word is he is using Yama's interpreter, which would satisfy the contract.
Going to be so sick seeing Doval walk out with the spotlight on him
