The deal with Snell puts it in the As for me for sure. Great deal.

You changed your offseason grade from D+ to an A just because of Snell? Did you prefer JD Davis over Chapman?

Snell is a big signing but with one caveat. Pitchers are more inconsistent than everyday players. We've seen a lot of big name pitchers all around the league get signed and then fail to produce. I won't even begin to start naming them all since most of us are aware of who they are. The best thing about this signing is the Giants didn't overpay Snell and they only gave him a 2 year deal. At least if he fails they aren't stuck with a big contract for 6 years or more. If he succeeeds and they can't re-sign him then fine. Move along.
#7 it is.

dude, you can't be this crotchety in real life. lol. Snell has started over 19 or 20 games for 6 of his 8 years and just won the Cy Young in the same division he's about to pitch in. This was an excellent move, no caveats needed.

SFG has a lot of retired numbers

Chapman is a better player than JD in every way, my initial grade was with heavy bias because I don't love Chapman and I don't want him blocking opportunities for Schmidt. But with Luciano unlikely doing anything, I can see Schmidt just playing over at shortstop and still getting ABs and hopefully he can breakout this year.

So my initial grade was harsh. Probably should have been a C+/B- .... But yeah, the Snell move helped a lot. Addressed a massive need for a SP, it is a great value contract without an overcommitment and brings in a star player we as fans desperately need.
