Apparently if you release a arbitration player before opening day you're on the hook for a small portion of his salary, that would explain why davis was released.

Nasty stuff. Maybe they can get Roupp, Whisenhunt, or Black to step up and contribute in the rotation until Ray and Cobb are back. The team really does have some nice young power arms

I saw Cobb was ahead of schedule in recovery. Throwing without limitations.

I hate to say this but I've gotten to the point where I just don't count on pitchers anymore. They are pampered so much that they never build the arm strength that they used to have. Throwing 4 or 5 innings every 4th or 5th day just won't cut it. I don't know the stats but I bet that no team has a starting staff that stays healthy all season.
Do you think Luciano should start the season in AAA? He's had 17 plate appearances and has one hit with 10 strikeouts. He continues to struggle in the field. They can't start the year with him at shortstop and he can't just sit on the bench.
Bauer pitching with the Asian breeze against dodger prospects
It was the same last year but I just dont understand the reason. Giants Padres season opener is Thursday March 28 at 1 PM/4 EST. Friday there are no games. Saturday the giants and padres play again.

Why do they put this day in between the openers? Its hella dumb.

JD Davis' agent publicly criticizing how everything went down with Farhan and the Giants now.

How many more of these need to come out before we make a damn change? I know we are having enough trouble attracting free agents as is. But as more and more of these stories come out, its is going to make it harder and harder to sign anyone.

What did his agent expect him to do? Bring JD in the negotiations for Chapman? What is his problem with the way it was handled? Sounds like a bunch of whining to me

Just seems like Farhan took advantage of a loophole in the arbitration process. At least thats how they view it, and I dont think they are entirely wrong.

Also read the agent responded with under 10 minutes lest and did give a counter, just said the number has to start with a 7. Lol

Seems like the agent is at fault here, even if the Giants only gave an hour, at least be ready to respond and negotiate, especially if you know the deadline and time remaining to get a deal done.

the reality is, his agent screwed up and has to blame somebody to save face.
