The Giants concentration on Ohtani sounds lie last year when they said they were after Judge. I hope they have a better backup plan than they did last year.

To be fair, we were legitimately trying for judge

I am not getting my hopes up at all, but it would be insane if we got these guys. I remember being like 12 and i'd see "rumors" that we were getting vlad guerrero and i was going bananas to my friends lol. I bet kids are doing this to ohtani as well

The "news" that came out about us going all in for Ohtani wouldn't be something the Giants leak. Its just Ohtani's camp laying the groundwork for milking the Dodgers.
At least this Shohei signing won't drag till like Feb like these other divas do. Can come to a conclusion by the end of the winter meetings

Doesn't surprise me. They know the Ohtani pursuit is a longshot.

I HATE it. Chapman is hardly a game changer. Basically a .230-.240 hitter with 15-20 homeruns. Yes he is a very good defender but that isnt enough to spend big money. Now, if they get Lee, Yamamoto, and Chapman thats a different story.

Chapman signals they will support FA pitchers with good defense

It also gives us the option to add our young 3B prospects to a trade package for more bats (Soto is the dream)

What 3b prospect of ours do you think is so good that we will get a great player back? It depends on what the money is of course but if its a BIG contract and prevents the team from getting a real impact player then its a bust. Chapman just isnt a very good hitter

Some combination of players from this list could be needed if we want Soto
LHP Kyle Harrison
LHP Carson Whisenhunt
Casey Schmitt (this is who Chapman pushes off the roster if it all happens)

With how awful the defense was last year, and Melvin's Oakland ties with Chapman, it's the obvious move. Not that he'll be worth the money, but it's something I guess. This f/a class sucks.

The moment Melvin was hired connecting the dots to a reunion with Chapman was as easy as it gets. This isn't surprising one bit, just for the love of god add Yamamoto or miraculously Ohtani to the mix
Per Japanese media, Ohtani is expected to visit the team on Saturday.

Better have Posey there and Brock Purdy just in case.
