I still believe money talks. And Arson WOULD have signed with us if we blew him away with a contract offer. But since we offered a similar contract to the Yankees, he obviously went there.

What is this Arson business? Why is that a thing? There is a free part to free agency, no one has to come here. It's Aaron.
Agree. The Arson stuff is stupid. And I think the Giants did make a much bigger offer than what Judge was initially being offered by the Yankees. But let's be real here. The only chance the Giants had to land Judge was to make an obscene overpay. It made all the sense in the world for him to stay with a team that is competitive just about every year and would cement his legacy as a Yankee great.

I know I have said this to you before, but I stand by it. There is very little difference between a player making $40M a season and a player making $45-48M a season from an organizational standpoint. Both will be bad contracts by the end, so whats the difference?

This is funny coming from a guy complaining some dudes are paid $20m vs $10m for just 1 season lol

Well, I'd say its a liiiiitle different when you are talking about overpaying Aaron Judge versus overpaying Joc Pederson. I know you understand that. And I have never said that Judge should be paid double what he is worth, like we did for Joc.

I think you nailed that Joc Pederson business I recall you not really in on Joc especially for that amount
some of these guys are not overpays for instance, Bonds was a record in it's day, he was underpaid
this team needs a star, that's what Giants means, larger than life players
Farhan really pushing Bochy out the door to watch him win the WS would just be even more of a reason to dislike the guy even more

Is this some kind of poem?

I'm rooting for the Rangers for sure. I dont know that they will make it much further than the next round, but would love to see Boch win another ring.

I'm rooting for the Rangers as well. I would think that most Giants fans are because of the Bruce Bochy connection and memories. If there is one thing Bochy excells at, it's getting his team ready for the pressures of playoff games. That was fairly evident in this two game sweep, on the road no less.
Baer's season ending letter to the fans is so meh.

Its going to be the downfall of Farhan (already was for Kapler) for missing out on Judge. We needed a true lockerroom leader and middle of the order bat for years to come. The FA class this year is Shohei and a bunch of dudes who don't move the needle.

If they miss out on Shohei, I believe this will be Farhan's last season. I can't see them being competitive.

You can't miss out on something that was never actually available. Judge played the Giants, just like Harper and Stanton.

I am with Steve, there was a dollar amount that could have gotten it done and yes it would have been a gross overpay but it was have gave us a piece we desperately needed and haven't had in a long time here.

Are you guys actually still lamenting not landing Judge after he missed nearly 60 games in his first season on the new contract? He's going to age horribly. If we had actually been able to sway with with more money it would've ended up being the worst contract in Giants history because of how much we would've had to pay him. At Oracle his numbers would be suppressed, and his nagging injuries would've made it worse.

Missing out on Judge and Correa was massive blessing. Their best years are behind them. JD Davis had a better season than Correa.

It's the end of the 2023 season, it's not lamenting it's a post-mortem. Pretty normal... It's clear that was a major reason why this season sucked and why kapler got fired. There were no stars on this team and no true leadership in the locker room since Buster left.
I think that the Giants will need to consider trading some top prospects. Luciano has never played a full season, has proven to be injury prone and didn't really blow anyone away up here in his debut season. I think you have to seriously consider trading him for a proven talent. I know it was a running meme but I think you can probably package him and Ramos and maybe another prospect or two and bring in someone.

There are no culture-changing Super Star Free Agents this off-season outside Ohtani... they need to do something.

No one is "lamenting" anything. We were simply discussing landing big ticket free agents. And I still contend that we could have had him if we were willing to pay.

You, on the other hand, are basically arguing there was zero dollar amount that would have made him come here....and that money in fact does NOT talk...which we all know is an absurd POV. Money talks.
"Missing out on Judge was a massive blessing."

In what universe is that accurate? Yeah he missed almost 60 games. He still had 14 more homeruns and 2 more WAR than any Giant position player.
Hey Brandon Belt, I'm sure your team appreciates you showing up to the playoffs.
