2026 San Francisco Giants Season Thread

Exactly what I said. I know we won 81 games last year. But due to the entertainment factor, it felt like we won 51 games. I cant take another year like last year. I went to 2 games last season, which is exponentially lower than any non-covid year in my 4 decades on this planet. I had games on TV, but mostly became background noise without paying attention at all.

I can die a happy Giants fan because of 2010-2014. Its not even about winning or competing for more rings anymore. I just want to be entertained.

same. 81 wins felt like 20 to me. I have had the MLB pass since 2009 I believe and usually watch the majority of games. Last year I completely stopped watching outside an occasional sunday game and usually would end up turning it off. Just boring as f**k. I only went to one giants game also which was the least since 2010. It was the least amount of giants games I have seen since the run in 2010.

I literally can't do another year of that s**t.

My thoughts exactly. I mean, I want to go to the playoffs and have success, but the days of hand wringing over it are done. I just can't stand the Oakland A's bargain bin team strategy.

I'm with both of you and I hardly watched last year because they were just too damn boring. But, I do question whether Carlos Correa is a mega superstar who warrants a 400M contract. It would be hard for me to fathom paying him more total money than Aaron Judge

Like I said, in 5 years id rather have Correa. Judge wont age well, and is already 3 years older. With the way the market appreciates now, and the money the Giants are making, its not really as big of a deal if they spend big on guys like Correa. Its better than watching Wilmer Flores, Tommy La Stella, and Darin Ruf hit 3-4-5.

Count me as one of the fans that was extremely bummed by Judge re-signing with the Yankees. I completely get why it always made more sense for him to stay. But, I got caught up in all the hoopla of Judge "coming back home" and his wife bringing up his prediction of being a Giant 10 years ago.

Basically, I feel like one of those naive high schoolers that thinks the hot chick is really into him, but she's just talking to me to get her boyfriend mad/upset/jealous so they spend more time with her.

This past year with no Posey, I was so disinterested I barely paid attention to Giants games. If Judge would've signed with SF, it would've given me that desire to watch like when Bonds was at bat seeing what he do. Or, watch the brilliance of Posey. There's no draw right with this team.

Even if we sign Correa, I still feel like that excitement isn't on our team still.

And don't get me started with Senga. I'm done with hoping one of the Japanese all stars signs with us. Not until it actually happens will I pay attention.
The japanese star aspect is especially disheartening.

We wasted all the good will from the Alvin Dark and Masanori Murakami Giants from 1964.

Generations of japanese players grew up knowing exactly who the Giants were and alvin dark was a cult favorite english name used in their video games.

And all that good will only got us Shinjo...
Interesting....

Follows up on what Slusser said about Joey Bart on KNBR a few days ago. No idea if this has legs or not. Just found it to be interesting.

Slusser should be ignored from now on.

If Susan Slusser said anything negative about Joey Bart, I would take that as gospel. She is the most over the top homer beat writer I have ever seen. If she says or posts something negative, that is saying A LOT.

Seiya Suzuki's camp basically said Japanese players have a preconceived notion that SF is a homeless dumpster fire and they don't put serious interest into signing there. So thank SF politics for losing the 49ers and scaring away Japanese baseball stars.

She doesn't mention anything negative in the article. She just mentioned some dissatisfaction with Bart among Giants pitchers on KNBR. No names were mentioned. Didn't go beyond that, other than "don't be surprised if the Giants sign or trade for a catcher."
Anyone have good info on our prospects?

Have we reached sink or swim time for Heliot Ramos and Marco Luciano and even Hunter Bishop?

Do we plug those guys in for this year ot do they need more development?

If we dont sign a star it is still fun watching our homegrown prospects blossom.

Luciano just got called up to AA at the end of last season. He will be a late season cup of coffee guy if all goes well next year, but otherwise hes still a year or two away. Bishop looking like a bust. Ramos falling off to the point where he couldn't stick around in the big leagues with a bunch of random AAA guys we had called up last year. Hopefully he has a better 2023.

I think we are approaching an important time for Ramos, he's gotten a taste of the big leagues but hasn't siezed his opportunity there or in AAA as of yet. Jury still out.

Marco Luciano is on schedule, a little delay due to injury for him last year. Luis Matos in the same boat. Doubt they see much time at MLB level next year.

I have no idea about Hunter Bishop - he's been bad statistically throughout his minor league career so far. He may be a bust.

Casey Schmitt (2nd Rnd, 2020) is a name I keep hearing about that could be on the cusp. He is an elite level defensive 3B. He hit 21 HRS for a high average (.293, .854 OPS) across 3 minor league levels last season. He's arguably the best defensive player we have in the farm system. He could be a stud.

Another name to look out for is Vaun Brown, OF. (10th rnd, 2021) an older propsect but has mashed at every level on minor league ball, he hit 23 HRs and .346 across all 3 levels.

Those are the two I would keep an eye on for 2023, in addition to Ramos in terms of near MLB ready. I think Schmitt could open camp as the starting 3B.

I can't remember off the top about pitchers, Kyle Harrison obviously is the guy to look out for.
