Correa (3B) + Swanson (SS) + Nimmo (CF)

Throw even more money at pitching

Many fans are in DGAF mode and dont want low bugdet Giants next year.

If it is what they do i just hope they structure it to take advantage of their lack of payroll now so he doesnt use as much (towards luxury tax) in his middle years.

I think that is also a contract tactic the giants should start implementing to help with the cost of living. Front load deals with lighter middle and still balloon end of contract.

Here is your first 6 years up front, and your back 4 are higher so if/when we trade you you may be in a lower tax state.

If Correa was as good as people thought he was going to be, I would be totally good with that contract but 12 years seems insane for what you're actually getting.

What's really weird about Correa, is his 162 game average stats are 28 HRs, 101 RBI, .279 ba - but he's never hit 28 HRs or gotten 100 RBIs in a single season. (he gets hurt a lot). I can't imagine this going well. I don't like it.

And you are ok with this? You were one of the ones who was very outspoken against a Judge signing. I have to imagine you are against this one too right?

I changed my stance because I realized that if they intend to keep up with LA, they are going to have to keep spending. They definitely have the money, so there won't be any excuses to stop spending if they give out a big contract that doesn't pan out.

Either they keep our attention, or they don't. I prefer to enjoy Giants baseball, so I'd like them to get some talent.

They're not going to sign two SS for 500 mil with Crawford and Estrada on the roster.

Most players' 162 game averages are better than their best seasons, because it filters out off days and injuries. Its just meant to show you how they perform on average for an entire season. Correa is a star SS who can hit and field at a high level. 350 mil seems nuts now, but the market always catches up. Harper for 330 looks like a steal now.

From a longterm, well rounded perspective, Correa is probably a better bet than Judge. He just isn't going to hit 50 HR or be the best player in baseball at any point. 5 years from now I think were going to rather have Correa than Judge.
Olney on KNBR said he wouldn't be surprised if boras gets Correa close to 400.

I just hope it doesn't drag out. I hate the baseball offseason. Too many players sit stubbornly to get the extra money they want and it makes the fans lose interest. The NFL free agency period is awesome.

Swanson + Nimmo only then

I dont think any other team is opening the vault for Correa.

Imagine what Ohtani and Soto contracts are gonna be...
I want no part of Nimmo..dude can't stay healthy. We already signed one of those guys already.

Ohtani will want $500 million and one half of the state of California.

That's what they started talking about after that. Instead of a Correa mega deal do a 3 for 1. Them focus on Ohtani next offseason

If they sign Swanson, Nimmo, and Haniger, literally nobody will show up next year. Nobody cares about those dudes. Many Giants fans have probably never even heard of them.

Exactly what I said. I know we won 81 games last year. But due to the entertainment factor, it felt like we won 51 games. I cant take another year like last year. I went to 2 games last season, which is exponentially lower than any non-covid year in my 4 decades on this planet. I had games on TV, but mostly became background noise without paying attention at all.

I can die a happy Giants fan because of 2010-2014. Its not even about winning or competing for more rings anymore. I just want to be entertained.
