Golden State Warriors Talk

Seems like Draymond is getting traded, not jimmy

and this deal shouldn't be viewed whether we can compete/not with the thunder, its whether we have a better chance in the playoffs. Anything can happen in the playoffs and I'd rather take my chances with Steph/Giannis than Steph/Nobody.

I think you sell off and then you trade curry in the offseason, that is the smartest play but lacob don't got the gumption

Thank you for reminding me how much you aren't missed in the 24/7 thread.

if you can't compete for a championship, what is the point in trading away all of your future assets for a couple of guys who won't move that needle?

What's the alternative?
Also, imo, we are being leveraged by the bucks, to get better deals else where

if Giannis was ok with coming here, the trade would have happened by now. I think he has his preferences of where to go, and while he probably wouldn't mind coming here, bucks will try to stick with his list first

no doubt. why would he want to come here? When we are trading potential lottery picks and our only developing talent? We would be banking on Post and Richard to become really good players when Steph retires. Big ask.
I wouldn't mind if Wiggins and Poole were here instead of Green and JK

The Warriors only have their own 1st round picks in the near future. It's unlikely that any of those would end up being a high lottery pick. I heard a scenario where Draymond gets traded and then comes back next season because of salary clearing. The NBA does that a lot. If they could get Giannis and end up with him, Steph, Butler and Draymond that would be great for a couple years. I don't know if it's possible with the way the NBA rules are.

I'd rather trade those away than keep them because this front office/ownership has not shown they can pick decent lottery players.

and given the disconnect between FO/ coaching, development goes out the window too

if your lottery picks need to develop, it's best to do that by letting them play a lot of minutes in a losing situation (see pistons, see rockets, see magic, see hawks before their recent player improvement)

Now ask yourself if Lacob will want to endure losing seasons. We'll just be stuck in the same cycle we are now, but just worse without Steph

good s**t Lacob, since 2020 (and post 2022) you've had you're eye on the Post Curry era, rather than investing in your generational talent.

If this holds and you miss, you'll be the most hated owner in Bay Area for wasting what you're given because you didn't get enough credit

We have four titles since 2015. Talk about spoiled.

That fourth title showed that you're generational talent could still win a ring, but the owner decided that it was time for Wiseman and JK.

its not about being spoiled. this would be like if the Jordan bulls decided to just say after the 3rd ring, f**k it, let's draft teenagers and then eye ball Shaq for a few years in case he becomes available in trade only to not be a preferred trade destination because you f**ked up your draft picks

now we're stuck with JK again for rest of season, better to just shut Steph down and tank for a better pick to trade.

Kuminga and Wiseman were both drafted before the fourth title. Wiseman was traded the next season, but he already showed the world he was worth nothing so that doesnt matter. I agree with you that Kuminga should have been traded long before now.

All I am saying is to say Lacob will be the most hated owner in the Bay for "wasting" Steph is ridiculous. We got 4 rings out of Steph. If you would have been told in 2013 that by 2022 the Warriors would win 4 rings, you would have thought that person was an idiot.

Yes but if you also told that person that Steph would become Jordan-esque but the owner became infatuated with raw teen basketball players, they'd probably agree the owner is an idiot
