Golden State Warriors Talk

I don't know anythng about these players other than what I read. I rarely watch college BB anymore. Maybe a few tournament games. I also find it impossible to keep up with the NBA rules regarding salary. Max contracts. Sign and trade deals. Luxury taxes. It's a very complex system that often requires multple teams in order to trade players.

I don't really like the changes to college sports where they are paid to play and the transfer portal where smaller schools develop the players that are less known and the big programs just take them away to try to win a title.

The cap stuff isn't that hard for the NBA, but the trades are made more complex because of it. I actually like the soft cap the NBA uses for the most part.

Not sure exactly how much we have to spend for free agents, a few I'd love are ( knowing not all are in our price range ) Brook Lopez, Deandre Ayton, Luke Kennard, Duncan Robinson. If possible 1 of each position, but I think our biggest move will come from a sign and trade for Kuminga, I'm not not so sure for who.

Kennard and Robinson don't give you anything you can't get from Hield.

Heild is streaky but so is every shooter in his price range so I'm not sure either of them are an upgrade and he seems to be a clubhouse favorite like Klay used to be. His teammates love him and he doesn't make a lot of money. I think Kuminga is staying unless they can get a true power forward/ Center type. JK was ballin last year before his injury and in the playoffs he was the only one who was effective once Steph went down
Lopez is more A Warriors type than Ayton. I think they may have gone after Portis but he re-signed.

I think JK sticks another year just because I don't think they are likely to get much value for him in return.

I wonder how Kerr goes about fixing his weakness in developing younger players. Moody, JK, and Post clearly needed more playing time, but Kerr is so against letting them learn on the court ... then add the several other young guys who have value but need PT.
Ayton has the same issues as Kuminga regarding effort level, just not consistent enough outside that year he got/earned max contract.

Ayton being a FA gives us a better chance to land Lopez. Still, can't teach Ayton's size, not the worst option, just hoping he isn't the first.

Fits well into the system, probably could be serviceable and mentor Post. But old, Celtics dude that cost us game 1 of the Finals in 2022.

Yeah ... and Lopez is a spring chicken :)

Horford is a better shooter, but both of them move ... slow.

Funny thing just occurred to me ... Lopez AND Horford would be good. Keep their minutes down, great coaching for Post. Just need them to take "special" contracts :)
Pass on Ayton.
