I think one reason ratings are way down is that having 2 superstars get in cahoots to meet up in a coastal town, is just not that interesting for the league as a whole.

100% this plus the NBA are missing the Warriors super team. Hate it all you want but that super team is exciting every time they visit an arena it's always sold out.

It would had been great if the Warriors and KD stayed together versus Lebron and the Lakers that will always be a must see TV. Let's be real Lakers number one rivals are the Clippers and their superstar Kawhi is boring asf.

Talent has never been higher....The warriors dynasty had the most fluid and fundamentally dialed in offense we have seen. Position 1-5 can shoot and score many ways on most teams. Just because 1 team who haven't made the finals even with insane amounts of talent don't play the right way doesnt mean the NBA is lacking wow

Seriously we were just talking about this at our coaches meeting. Shooting % has been going down all across the league.
Talent is out there sure but it is sloppy as hell and a lot of talented players are not getting developed when they jump after 1 yr. College was once used to develop players. Hell thats long dead and gone. There use to be a lot of talent In the NBA drafts. That's not so much the case anymore.

Sorry I disagree with your statement that talent has never been higher? No way is it higher now when say Kobe was a rook. Man now that was a talented league or even when James came into the mix. Talent was higher then than it is now.

First off, ratings are not an all time low, at least modern nba, that would be the 2000s, you had about 4 finlas that drew 5s and 6s. Compare that to the last 4 or 5 finals those numbers have doubled. And if you take into account how many people have ditched cable the past 4 or 5 years, those ratings are even higher.

As far as merch sales, im not sure how you can say that lol. China alone has brought in hundreds of extra millions. If the NBA was doing so bad financially and such bad ratings like you say, how are they able to pay players 40 mil a year and owners still make a lot of money?

And even if shooting % is down, which ill take your word for it, its bc everybody is also shooting 3s. Guys like KAT or Embiid would be shooting 60% if they weren't also taking 3s, but that doesnt mean players cant shoot lol, they are shooting better than ever before and theres no disputing that.

Lastly, you are right about undeveloped talent coming in from college. But once again, that doesnt mean the talent is worse. Yes it takes longer to develop a guy like Giannis or Siakim bc they dont play 4 years in college, but once they develop they are amazing players.

Im sorry, but besides Pippen, there were no 6ft 10 players who could defend 1 through 5, vision of a PG, shoot 3s, ball handling, etc. You have a bunch of guys who can do that now. 90s didnt have players like that, and 2000s had Odom and AK47 who kinda resembled guys like Durant, Bron, Giannis, Simmons, Siakim, etc. You have Cs like AD, Embiid, KAT, who can ball handle, pass, shoot, defend, who was doing that in the 90s or even 2000s? Plus, besides the Knicks and Magic every team has either a legit all star on their team or young players with a lot of upside like Luka, Trey, Ingram, Tatum, and many more.

If the talent was sooo much better in 90s, than 1 player wouldn't have dominated the league and won championships at will.

Merch sales are lower this year than the past 10 years bc of what happened with China, thats the fact. Im not sure how you can ignore that.
