From everything I've read Stenberg is the consensus 2nd player on the board. The Sharks should draft him or get considerable compensation from Vancouver to move down 1 spot and then draft Reid. BPA is almost always the best way to go when picking this high.

I feel like NHL drafts have less movement than other drafts.

Its always been a two man draft at the top with McKenna and Stenberg. Passing on Stenberg kind of feels like the Kings passing up on Luka Doncic in favor of need. Maybe not the same level of talent but anyone else would be a reach.

Stenberg was an 18 year old monster among men in the Swedish league. Vision, puck handling, super quick shot and despite being smaller, physicality and a fearlessness out on the ice means he should be the pick.

If not him then a trade that lands a proven top young defenseman or a hefty return in a trade down. Otherwise a line featuring Macklin and Stenberg for the next 10 to 15 years is the way to go.
Seems like it has to be either Stenberg or Reid, right? If it's Stenberg, is it possible to package a bunch of our other assets/prospects (Oilers 1st, future 1st, Musty/Bystedt/Eklund) for a defenseman? I know that's easier said than done.

Let's not overthink it. Take Sternberg. Use other resources to upgrade the D. Do we not have any prospects coming down the pipeline close to ready?

My ideal 1st round would be taking Stenberg at #2 and then hoping Lin drops far enough that they could move up a bit for him. Lin might not seem like the ideal Grier defenseman but he's just so impressive in a lot of ways. Incredible skater, agile, strong passer and a guy who just consistently finds himself in the right place at the right time.

Draft those two and Deebo Rasmus Andersson away from Vegas and suddenly they are looking like a much more complete and competitive team, present and future.

Stenberg or bust imo

Stenberg might go #1

Maple Leafs fans might riot—McKenna is the Canada kid and this is Toronto we're talking about here. They're already printing jerseys with his name on it. McKenna was already 95%+ going to be pick #1 but the Leafs winning the lottery turned it into a lock.
I miss Sharks hockey.

Just been so busy the past 5 years, ever since having my kid. Coincidentally, and really the silver lining is, they've been a garbage heap that entire time. Nothing like the glory days of Cheechoo train, Nabokov, Thornton, Marleau, The big Pavelski, etc.

Them being an unwatchable mess for half a decade has made it easy to not worry about finding time to watch though, and allowed me to focus on the important stuff with family. With my kid getting older now, and starting sports – possibly even trying hockey, could see it being a chance to get him into watching it!

Although.. My wife says if he has to be a Niners football fan, then she's making him a Dallas Stars fan... lol

Stenberg has a relentless motor. Really good defensive pressure

It would be surprising if he goes #1, but not surprising at the same time.

It is pricey but worth it. Consider it as buying season tickets to watch your kids play. Every year. Lots of options in Northern CA if that is where you are located.

I doubt it. But I also dont think they need to rush anything. Just keep doing what theyve been doing and building smartly with the best possible players. So far this is a dream rebuild. I really wish they could have gotten Schaefer last year but otherwise its all good.

Nemec has apparently requested a trade from the Devils.

I personally think he's overrated but worth keeping an eye on. I wouldn't offer the Devils anything more than #20 overall and a very small topping.
