Joe Thornton as a player development coach is good. A hall of famer who can still skate can talk to the kids in a way they will hear.

And Skinner seems really interested in taking a coaching role on this team too.

I think Grier is doing a good job of balancing development and psychology.

Where did you see that?

In an interview with him ... it was audio only ... don't know where. He was talking about all the young talent on the Sharks and the ex players around the team. I was glad to hear him positive about being on the team, I was a little concerned he just joined the team to get numbers and another contract elsewhere.

That said, he may get traded when that time of the season comes.

That's one of the things I'm looking forward to ... how are the lines going to work out with Celebrini, Eklund, Smith, Musty, Chernyshov, Graf, Halttunen, Dickenson, Mukhamadullin, Cagnoni, and more all under 23 years old ... but dumping Skinner at the deadline along with potentially Orlov, Toffoli, Klingberg etc. will mean things are going well enough with the kids they don't need the adults anymore, or it will mean that the kids are struggling to deal with the vets and they are shopping for new vets :)

Orlov has a NTC in year 1 of his deal and Toffoli has a NTC for the first 3 years of his deal so doubtful either gets moved this season unless they decide to waive their clauses. I would say almost for sure Toffoli won't wave his. He mentioned when he signed he was tired of being traded and moving around so much the previous years so it was important for him to have that clause in his deal to guarantee his family and him could settle into one place for at least a few years.

Good to know. Didn't know they had those. I really think they can really make the Sharks better both on the ice and in the locker room.
Danil Gushchin traded for Oskar Olausson ... okay former 3rd round pick traded for okay former 1st round pick.

picked up prices contract and a 5th rounder.

Can move the vets around trade deadline and stay above the floor

Larocque was never going to make the NHL with the Sharks. The team doesn't have that many players they can say that about which is nice.

Odd trade, wished we could have gotten back a better asset.

A pick and staying above the salary floor ... the more kids make the NHL roster to tighter it gets if they move vets. Sportrac has their active cap at just $58M, the floor is around $70M, so Price's $10.5M gets them over the floor with a little wiggle room.
Misa signed his ELC.
Doesn't feel like a last place team anymore, but still a lot of work to be done...

You never know tho, maybe 5th or 6th if they win more of those close games

I do expect Askarov to keep us in more games and steal a few, but still think we aren't there defensively.
