Cool, mark me down as a fan of whatever team wins so I can feel proud of my fandom

I'm always a winner! With hard work, you can be one too

of course we take pride in their wins

Just because you bought a jersey doesn't mean you are on the team....

Take pride in what you really do and are truly a part of

you can do both you know. be proud of your team's accomplishments and be proud of your own personal accomplishments.

This is just obvious. No one is taking credit for the Warriors winning a title but we are all proud of what they have done and certainly very happy about it. If you aren't you truly are not a fan.

Just some people want the Warriors to lose so badly and hate KD so much, that they just say nonsense.

I always find it funny when fans take personal credit or pride in their team winning.

You'd think they were the ones playing the game or something

Like when fans of teams use the pronoun We when talking about their team? We got Jimmy!

How about when fans dress up in costume and wear jerseys like they are on the team?

TF?

Who doesnt take pride in their team winning? Were you not proud when the Niners were a dynasty? Were you not proud when Steve Young finally got over the hump and won us our 5th ring?

Happy for the team but I have no involvement in what they did.

There's nothing connecting you to the team aside from you giving very small amounts of money to the owner

Yeah theres nothing connecting me to the team. I havent followed the team for 3 decades now or anything.

SDN is a fan of the names on the back of the shirt, not on the front.

You're a Dub fan also now?

is there a problem?

Idk, I thought you were a Bulls fan maybe because you're a Cubs' fan. Never see you post about the Dubs. Just trying to sort out the bandwagons, but I think you're a good person and you wouldn't do that.

i can't tell if you're serious, but yes i am a dubs fan, albeit a late one. i didn't start rooting for them until maybe 2010 or so. i wasn't a huge basketball fan before then though i did root a bit for the Bulls when i lived in Chicago. you can categorize me as a bandwagoner if you like, doesn't bother me

he's not. he just thinks he's is cool with his passive aggressive sarcasm subtle trolling nature.

What are you proud of? How did you contribute or how are you closely associated?

There is a difference between being happy a player or team won and being "proud"

Being "proud" infers you have some close connection. Ie you're proud your kid won an award or you're proud be an American (because you are one, you not a Warrior).

I don't agree that fans have any association with a pro team. You're just a wallet for the owner

Tell that to Green Bay Packer fans who actually own part of the team. Owners can't be fans?

Extreme nitpicking. Like nitpicking people for saying We when referring to the 49ers.

"Close Association" is subjective.

Pride? No. I'm just happy.

If my favorite TV character does something great, I'm not like "I feel so proud of Jon Snow! I've been a fan of his since Season 1! Take that haters!"

In your subjective understanding, is a sports fan closely associated with a sports franchise?

And it's not nitpicking, it's more than just the word. It's the obnoxious behavior of fans pounding their chest like they did something. Durant made the shot, not you. He can beat his chest, you can only applaud

It's fans becoming possessive of something that isn't theirs

i think there is an association between a team and its fans though. look at "roaracle" - those fans give the warriors serious home field advantage, and that's true of a lot of team sports. home field advantage is a huge deal, thanks to the fans.

I am proud of what they have accomplished. Notice I never said that I contributed anything to their success but in my opinion I dont need to have been a contributor to be happy and proud of what my favorite team has done. I believe most people are in agreement with this. I am also proud to have been a Warriors fan through ALL the years when they sucked and that I never jumped to root for another team just because they were winning.

That depends on the person and how they feel about the team. We are talking about feelings.
Do you feel the same way when you hear a fan say "We" when talking about the 49ers or an ASU sporting team?
Sports teams bring out a communal feeling for fans and I think that is where the pride and pronouns come into play.
