Back to Back World Champion Golden State Warriors 2017-2018

they'd probably have a better chance at winning a game against us in a series than another team (i.e., Pelicans)

Stephen Curry wants to finish career with Warriors: 'This is home'

There's been an assumption in some quarters of the league that after his current contract — which runs out in 2022, when he is 34 and the Warriors are likely winding down — he might go finish his career, for a couple of seasons, in his hometown of Charlotte. That Stephen will play where his father Dell is a legend.

The younger Curry isn't thinking that way at all he said on The Bill Simmons Podcast (hat tip Yahoo Sports.)
"I love the Bay Area, man. The only reason I go home now is if my sister's getting married or to go play the Hornets for that one game, so I haven't really been back much. I haven't put my mind there."

Does Curry want to be a Warrior for his entire career?
"For sure I do. This is home. This is where I want to be, for obvious reasons."

Will Curry feel that way four years from now? Who knows. That's several NBA lifetimes away. Curry has said in the past he has thought about playing in his hometown, but obviously he's not thinking about leaving these Warriors now.

In the same way I liked Kobe Bryant playing his entire career for one team, I would like that for Curry (who was drafted by the Warriors in 2009). He likes that idea, too — going down as the greatest Warrior player of all time. But the lure of home could change all of that in a few years.

YES! We might have a great team for many more years. Hearing it from papa Thompson is a helluva lot better than just a rumor or "an anonymous source."

Here's another version of the same...
https://www.sfchronicle.com/sports/ostler/article/Dad-says-it-s-so-Thompson-will-remain-with-13166393.php

""Oh yeah, you can mark it down," Mychal Thompson said at a party to promote the Thompson Family Foundation's first charity golf tourney. "Klay's going to retire in the Warriors' uniform. He's going to play at Chase Center (the Warriors' San Francisco arena, opening in 2019), and he's not going to be at Chase Center as a visiting player, he's going to be a Warrior for the next seven or eight years."
If Steph is my number 1 Warrior player of all time then Klay is fast becoming 1B. Not only does he have the skills, but I love his quirks and love watching him become mature and comfortable in his skin. I used to find his interviews cringeworthy, but now it seems like he drops gem after gem.

Steve Kerr explains how changes will be made with Warriors this season

Steve Kerr is a winner. As a player he won five NBA titles, and now as a coach, Kerr has added three more titles with the Warriors.
Even with eight rings, Kerr knows how hard it is mentally to be a champion.

"I do think in order to keep their interest, and to keep them fresh, we've got to change some aspects of our routine, and we'll see what that means," Kerr said to the San Francisco Chronicle. "Could mean altering or even getting rid of shootarounds, (or) only having shootarounds occasionally.

"Could mean changing the structure of practice, changing the amount of time we're on the floor, maybe mixing up some different drills."

The Warriors have been to the NBA Finals in four straight seasons, winning three champions and back-to-back rings the last two years. There's no doubt Kerr and others have worries about the Warriors losing motivation and growing stagnant during the 82-game regular season.

"That's where the coaching creativity comes into play, and that's when your internal (player) leadership comes into play," Kerr said. While Kerr may make changes to the routine, the Warriors' roster already underwent a big change in the offseason with the addition of DeMarcus Cousins.

Will the All-Star center change how the champs play?
Don't count on it.
"We're not going to change our style of play," Kerr said. "We'll definitely add a few plays for DeMarcus (Cousins) down on the block. But for the most part, we're not going to change who we are."

You know they will adjust their play to make use of Cousins.
