LeBron James joining Lakers affects Klay Thompson's future--By: Phillip Barnett | September 17, 2018 6:15 pm
"You are talking about guys for whom pecking order becomes really important," Mychal said during the Mason and Ireland radio show. "The perception of how people are going to look at you is important for these guys. If Klay came to L.A., which he should, then he knows he is going to slot in behind LeBron. But it is fine because he has done it before [for the Warriors], it is not a big deal.
"Kawhi is a top-five guy who is a Finals MVP. I know what the pitch is 'you come here, you win another title and in two or three years LeBron is going to be 35 years old and you will transition and become the guy.' But that doesn't mean Kawhi wants to go through that. But on the other hand, he might love the idea of being in LeBron's shadow. He doesn't have to do anything."
While Mychal may want his son to head down the I-5 to continue the family legacy in the forum blue and gold, it doesn't make a lot of sense for Thompson to leave the Warriors who can offer him more money and more years.
Even if Klay wanted to branch out and lead his own team, it's hard to imagine playing second-fiddle to James would be the most ideal move.

Damn I guess no other star wants to play second fiddle to Lebron. Makes sense seeing that that second star gets a much reduced role than they were used to.

It's not just being second fiddle
It's getting the majority of the blame when things go wrong, and non of the credit when things go right

LeBron May Already Be The Greatest Laker Of All-Time
In fact, even among the Lakers' many, many historical stars, James could be the best player who ever suited up for the team the first second that he steps onto a court wearing Forum blue and gold.

Seasons soo close
I think this year will be more tough than people imagine
Contract years + chasing a threepeat
No threepeat = no bueno
