Westbrook for MVP. Frankly, I dont even understand the argument for Harden, I really dont.

He has more wins.

That's about it. His assist and shooting percentage numbers are just minimally better.

Better team in Houston and he plays in D'Antoni's system.

IMO there is no case for him after what Westbrook has done this season and several ridiculous performances in the 4th quarter.

Leading the league in scoring and averaging double digits assists and rebounds is mind boggling. It seems it is not humanly possible.

Thunder has won 46 games. That's pretty damn good considering the rest of the cast.

Harden has been unstoppable on offense and is a couple rebound short of averaging a triple double so its not as wide a gap as you make it sound. Their supporting casts aren't that different either.

The first round matchup between the two should be great. They can settle it on the court.

The Rocket's Ortg is 2.2 points worse when Harden is on the bench than when he plays.

The Thunder's Ortg is 13.1 points worse when Russ is on the bench than when he plays. (OKc -11.2 when Russ is on the bench is the worst in the league, just so you know).

The idea that Westbrook's teammates are anything close to the level of Harden's teammates is a laughable claim. It is based on nothing whatsoever.

Here are some interesting stats:

on / off + -

Westbrook is at +12.8 net, he's way ahead of Harden (+1.5 net) and Leonard (+1.6) in that regard.
But he's well behind (for example) Curry, James, and CP3.

2016-17 On-Off
Russ: +4.1 on court / +12.5 net (top teammates net: Oladipo +8.2, Roberson +7.6, Adams +7.5)
Steph: +16.3 on court / +17.0 net (top teammates net: Green +12.5, Thompson +7.4, Durant +6.2)
LeBron: +8.9 on court / +17.5 net (top teammates net: Love +9.1, Irving +6.4, Thompson +0.2)
CP3: +13.5 on court / +19.3 net (top teammates net: Jordan +14.5, Griffin +11.9, Redick +10.8)

Plus minus can be a flawed measure as teammates feed into that, but in this case is a positive for RW. A negative is that he is 136th in eFG% among guards with 25 min/game or more (not good at all). eFG% is explained below. Leonard is 36th and Harden is 60th as a comparison. LBJ, KD and Curry are 7th, 8th and 10th respectively.

A metric used in NBA basketball that is similar to Field Goal Percentage, but adds an additional parameter. This parameter adjusts for the fact that 3-point field goals are worth 50 percent more than 2-point field goals.

eFG% = (FGM + (0.5 x 3PTM)) / FGA

Also, RW's TS% is not good (in the 150's). Harden and Leonard are both in the 30's range. Westy is an enigma for sure, and a force of nature. And the technique of padding his rebounding stats is weak, but does not make a significant difference to me personally. He does have the handicap of having the worst team of the three main contenders, and that will affect advanced metrics (although help his on/off net metric).

The most amazing thing to me about RW is that his body held up for a whole season of that explosive torquing he puts on it. He probably deserves the MVP based on that alone.

doesn't matter. they'll f**k it up. and if they do get someone decent, he'll be traded to the lakers.

rinse and repeat.
Cavs may have just lost the 1 seed...

...but they can beat the Celtics in Boston so who cares.

Still not as bad blowing a 3-1 lead in the finals when you had the best record in NBA history

oh look.. Val cut and pasted the same comment he made from earlier this year. I guess when your team sucks in every sport there is nothing else to do.

Charles barkeley conveyed he thinks cavs are fine with number 2 seed, helps them avoid Wizards in 2nd round.
