In other words, don't assume Clippers *have* to trade one of the big three to get Durant. They're intent on pitching him on a big 4 scenario

The Clippers would be scary if they got Durant. They would suddenly become the heavy favorites to win the title . Of course, that can also be said for the Warriors and the Spurs.

clippers still gonna clip and fall over in the postseason even with durant

The most sought after free agent this summer seems to have already made his mind up before teams and players can begin discussing contracts on July 1st. According to Marc Spears of The Undefeated, Kevin Durant is expected to re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder, at least for another year.

One of Kevin Durant's longtime friends said, "His decision is 90 percent made" to return to OKC for another year.

With Durant coming back, if the Thunder also pull off the signing of Horford, they'd be pretty stacked.

PG-Westbrook
SG-Oladipo
SF-Durant
PF-Horford
C-Adams

What kind of depth would they have though?

Lots of young guys. Andre Roberson, Cameron Payne, Domantas Sabonis, Mitch McGary, Nick Collison.

They'd have to trade Kanter and Singler, as well as probably letting Waiters walk.

Yeah I was kinda curious about the Kanter situation. Him and Waiters were the two guys off the bench that can score so losing them both could really hurt them. Sabonis should be a good all around player. Roberson needs to work on his jump shot like no other, especially after being embarrassed in the playoffs. Payne could become pretty decent. McGary...who knows? Same for Josh Huestis. Collison doesn't really give them much anymore.

So it looks like they could be in trouble with bench scoring if Kanter and Waiters leave.

Scoring isn't going to be a problem if they have 3-4 offensive starters who can score. You can run your offense through Westbrook, Durant, or Horford with the rest of the 2nd unit. I like Oladipo a lot too and think he can be a pretty good scorer.

Let Roberson play substantial minutes with the starting lineup (since you don't need scoring with all those guys out there). Have Oladipo split time between the starters and 2nd unit. Always keep either Westbrook, Durant, or Horford on the floor. They have plenty of depth even if they let go of Kanter, Waiters, and Singler.

Payne, Roberson, Morrow, Ilyasova, Sabonis, Collison, McGary is plenty of depth. That would be sweet if they got Horford.

Having 3-4 scoring starters is great but the championship winning teams usually always have a great bench to help out the starters. The Warriors the last couple years have been a great example of that. They had several guys that could come in and score 10+ a night if needed. I forgot the Thurder had Illyasova though. He can definitely score and Morrow can score if he gets good looks. They're gonna have to rely on these guys during the season so their starters are fresh for the postseason.

Don't think they can add Horford but if they do...omfg.

Imho...they were already the most talented roster last year. Now they turn Ibaka into Oladipo, Ilyasova, and Sabonis...and if they retain Durant...plus add Horford....that's just ridiculous.

People who have not watched a lot of Magic games - don't know how good Oladipo is. He is a guy who averaged 18 - 4 - 4 in his second year. Plus, he can play great defense against either guard. He has continued to improve in his first 3 seasons.

Oladipo can easily move to the bench (if needed) and be a wayyyyy better scorer and defender than Waiters can ever be. Ilyasova is not a bad player off the bench either.
Kanter is on the trading block but there's a slight complication for OKC. From realgm...

Kanter has veto power over any trade until July 12th and also has a 15 percent trade kicker.
