Crikey it's the Cricket Thread

Showing they can't bat unless it's a road.

What about McCallum, last test before he retires and with the kiwi's looking like they will be all out for 100 he comes out and smashes the fastest 100 in test history,
Taken the record of Gilchrist for most test 6's as well.

Should get to see him for the whole BBL season next year now he's retiring from tests.
McCullum and the boys of his era were and still are the better team than past and future players of nz cricket so far, imo.

T20 World Cup coming up next month. I suspect the Southeast Asian teams will be favored (Ind, Pak, SL) as the dry pitches will suit their kind of play.

Its really anybodys game the 20/20 and that has affected modern day players, no longer do they have the slow patience to tire opponents by wearing them down, now its hit and bash, hit and bash. Games are played alot faster.

Yes and no mate take the last Kiwi test, a few batsmen were still in single figures after facing around 60 balls. McCallums innings was at he same time as others were struggling to score 1 run per over. I think what 20/20 has done is give hitters like McCallum, Warner etc the confidence to go after the attack, if batting is tough a quick fire 50 or 100 is going to quickly change the game more than a 50 or 100 ground out over a days play.
I do like watching a batsmen dig in and try to build an innings but as a spectacle nothing comes close to McCallum/Warner/Gayle and co in full flight.

Some more tributes...

RIP Martin... Thanks for the memories.

RIP Martin. Sad day indeed.
RIP Martin Crowe, a great batsman who steered NZ out of trouble a fair number of times.
Yeah, he was the danger man when we played the Kiwi's from the 80's to mid 90's. Massive international career spanning 13 years.

To give some context for American members, this guy was actor Russell Crowe's cousin.

As much as I wanted to I just couldn't get into the T20 world cup. With footy season started and game times not really being viewer friendly for the cricket it really hasn't generated much interest.
Watched cricket today because my brother in law is over and is a fan.

Gotta say, once you start to understand the game, you get into it.
