There was talk a while back that Parra was rorting on a similar level to the Storm. Has it turned out to be that bad?
$3 million over the last few years sounds a fair bit.

A clean out is probably the only way forward.
Just highlights how unworkable the current salary cap is, It is only in place as a means of artificially levelling the competition and there are far better and transparent ways of achieving the same outcome. I and everyone I have spoken to today don't believe for a minute Parramatta are the only club trying to rort the cap, they are just the most recent to be caught.
If the NRL were serious about it they could fix the problem over night.
The NRL could quickly and easily put a value on every player in the competition with the NRL's player values used for salary cap purposes. Clubs and players would be free to negotiate contracts for any amount they agreed on but for salary cap purposes the NRL's value would be the one used. 100% transparent and no way to rort it. You could do the same thing with player rankings, rank the 25 players on every clubs books 1-10, 1-100 wouldn't mater what scale you used, get a total for the 25 players x 16 clubs devide by 16 and you have your cap total.
There has always been golden handshakes IMO and to win a premiership you have to win on the field and to
do that you have to have great players and to do that you have to win in the office as well as what we percieve to be the true success of a club
which is to develop younger players and make them into stars of our game. phew that was a gobfull

In total $ yes it is similar but the salary cap has increased quite a bit since.
Still trying to get a handle on the actual breaches but it appears a lot of them come down to a payment being included in the cap and not classed as a allowable third party deals. This is where the cap falls down, I could pay a player to be a brand ambassador for my company but if a club asked me to pay them to be a brand ambassador for my company its not allowed. If the club gives me free tickets for having one of their players on my books then its no longer arms length.
High court has just ruled the directors cant be sacked until they have reviewed the case further.

Yep and the Eels success or lack of it shows that spending $ doesn't automatically result in success on the field if everything else is going to s**t.

Greenberg has said that the Eels cant start to get points for wins until 5 officials debarckle is resolved
Also got to be under the cap
Fans and player's desperate
cause can still make the 8 if enough wins are got

Rep Bonus Round Tips...
Oh chit, I have no idea tbh
G1 - NZ (Although they never win the one off ANZAC test... But technically this isn't the ANZAC test)
G2 - Fiji (Cause)
G3 - Tonga
G4 - Country
No idea why, but just gonna experiment.

I see Newcastle CEO Matt Gidley has come out today stating third party deals have spiralled out of control and are making for a very uneven playing field as far as the salary cap is concerned.
Has called for exactly what I have been saying for over a decade, all players to be valued by a independent body and that value used for salary cap purposes regardless of what the club might be paying a player.
Current situation is a joke, when the NRL accepts the likes of Lockyer's final Broncos contract at 250k well below his market value it is nothing more than sanctioned rorting.
