The scrums in that game were like nothing I've ever seen, just perfectly matched to the point they were totally still.

seriously who is Rob Horne? Someone hasn't been watching my waratahs team this year lol. He's one of the best wingers in the Wallabies squad. Beat out Joe Tomane and Taqele Nuvaroo (130kg winger who is pretty quick) or however you spell it. I'm suprised Henry Speight wasn't on the bench, the guy can light up a rugby field.

Scrums need much much more improvement especially against England's forward pack.

I'm looking at our Wallabies squad right now and thinking of all Pacific Islanders are gonna take over this team.

Tight head - Sekope Kepu
Hooker - Tatafu Polo-Tanau
Loose head - Scott Sio

then Will Skelton at Lock with 140kg of pure muscle.

Israel Folau at the back.

Poly influence is strong with this team.
It's funny people think of the all blacks as being all Pacific islanders but they have more white guys than the wallabies, a lot more.

I'm actually annoyed both wallaby wingers are whities, and worse, play like whities. That's what I was politely dancing around with my last post. If any position should definitely be taken by islanders (or indigenous).

I remember a Horne was on the wallabies back when I played 15 years ago or so. Didn't know there was a new one. I actually do watch the waratahs, which makes it even worse, if I'm not noticing his existence how good can he be?
Beat out those guys how? In a fight to the death or you mean some idiot selector picked him?
England v Wales RWC Pool A... This is gonna be good...

Guess who's starting?

Slammin' Sam that's who!!!

Anything could happen?

He could look like an absolute beast…

Or

He could look like an absolute fool…

(Perhaps somewhere in between*)
Guess we'll find out this weekend.

Go for it Big Sam!!!

Lol Id rather more poly wingers but, some of them can't kick to same themselves. it's not an essential but I'd rather safe hands and a boot out the back. Which Horne and Ashley-Cooper are quite comfortable doing.

He maybe new in rugby union, but he aint new in running and tackling, in fact he was one of the best in the NRL. I Think he'll kill it, like most former Leaguie players do.
I really don't get slammin Sam as a back, I mean he couldn't be a forward in rugby either, he was just never a good candidate for a code switch. Most league forwards aren't. Sbw kind of works because of his ball playing and slightly better athleticism/lateral movement but Sam is just all league forward. Anyway, wish him luck and look forward to watching.

dude the guy is killing it for his local rugby team, putting seasoned union players on their azz. YouTube it, he's a beast.
Oh naturally he will still be the best tackler in union history, lol, I just meant I don't see how he'd be an attacking weapon. He has zero subtlety and no finesse in his game.

He'll be good as a battering ram but up against 1st stringers he's only a rookie.

Tackling in rugby union is different to league, its a fluid motion of catch and release catch and release catch and release, in league its BAM stay down, BAM stay down you mutt, BAM what did I say?!?
Stay down.

Seems like we have one vote for beast & one for fool... (He looks like a League Forward & is out of place in a Rugby backline, kinda vibe there.)

I'm neutral so I'm gonna just wait & see... I wish him well, but whatever happens, happens...

I did hear that he looked better in the Forwards over the Centres, but he wouldn't have made the RWC there due to underdeveloped Lineout ability...
NZL 58 v NAM 14... All Blacks rolled Namibia this morning.

The Kiwis also picked up the bonus point, but won't need it, as they'll breeze through this Pool now with Argentina behind them.

You can't just waltz into a good rugby teams forward pack, being a forward in union is a pretty specialised set of skills. Being a back in union, on the other hand, is just like being a very lazy bored league back. I was a flanker(break away) in union for 12 years and a centre in league for 4.

Yeah but England's forward pack is streets ahead of their backline. Burgess was one of the hardest runners in the game. Sure he doesn't have the fleet foot, step or speed, he's no slouch. And could play the whole game without rest. As you mentioned a terrific defender. That in itself is why he made the team. But the guy will run through a wall of defenders if he had to. I hope he does well and smashes the welsh side.
