It has been a long time since I've felt this nervous during a game of rugby, I'd have to go back to last year's RWC final... I just wanted them to win so bad for their long suffering Canes / Wellington supporters & their fans from the extended provinces... They finally did it, they got over the final hurdle & are now CHAMPIONS!!!

{This win also means that the "NZ Conference" is now "The Conference of Champions" with every team in the conference winning one or more Super Rugby titles}.

Yeah, sad news Neo... Hopefully they got on to it early & he makes a full recovery.

He's the second Aussie athlete to my knowledge to have a significant cancer scare... The other being AFL champion with Hawthorn Jarryd Roughead.

Finger crossed for them both.
Aussie girls looking ominous in Rio... Marched into the quarters with ease.

Well done ladies.

Aussie & GB girls are in red hot form.

Canada were comfortable winners over France.

NZ only just scraped past the US. However NZ received a YC during the match & were down to 6 players for a period of time.

(Side Note / Kayla McAlister (Luke's sister) & Niall Williams (SBW's sister) both were in action today for NZ).

And in other news the Wallabies have widened their scouting and are considering what they need to beat the Allblacks and the women's sevens could just be the ticket. ( couldn't be any worse).

And in related news an unidetified source says that J Hayne has accomplished all he can for the GC Titans and has always dreamed of playing for the Australian women's rugby.

Gold ~ Australia
Silver ~ New Zealand

~ It was an outstanding performance by the Aussie girls & deservedly they claim the Olympic gold medal to go with their world series win. They were easily the best team all year & lived up to their favourites billing.

~ Heartbreak for New Zealand, a costly YC by Portia Woodman left her devastated & inconsolable on the field. The girls should still be proud, a silver medal is nothing to sneeze at.

~ Great performance by the Canadian women's team to claim the bronze by defeating the Great Britain.

~ Thanks to all the ladies that participated you did your countries & women's rugby proud. Outstanding job helping further rugby's appeal on the world stage.

Lol... The girls could probably teach the Wallabies a thing or two about mental toughness & self belief.

However I'd say the girls are going to be too busy living it up in Rio, now that competition is over. And so they should, they've earned it.

I'm surprised JH didn't sneak onto the podium, Rabbits... He has done it before...

As stated sevens has to be taken seriously in new zealand, need an institute of sport in sevens and also get those big girls out on the paddock.
I reckon the HSBC sevens series should be the blueprint for the Olympics, all countries involved over a three day fest tournament, this way it makes it hard for the top teams to get to the podium and the atmosphere alot more festive. The Olympic sevens format in Rio just didnt give enough of a workout for all teams. Unsatisfying and too easy to get to the medal podium, let all sevens countries be eligible.

Australia is no doubt ahead of NZ in women's 7s... Kiwis have some catching up to do. They may need to rethink their recruitment policy as well & perhaps dare I say, take a leaf out of the Australian book.

SBW is apparently done in Rio... Major injury (Achilles) that will see him out of the Rugby Championship as well.

I'll post an article soon.

yeah disappointed with that i guess its the nature of the game, but if the boys dont lift their game, then unfortunately bronze or 4th will be it, at the moment by their last two games, 4th or 5th is what i can only see imo.
