Tiger can't stay off the rough. From -7 to -4 in the last 2 holes.

Both Tiger and Phil used to thrive off these situations and these tough shots would(Ohhh nice putt Rory) lift them past others.
260 to the tee and Rory hitting 6i

Sadly those two holes are going cost him. Crazy how 2 bad shots in 4 days can be the difference.
Almost. He had a helluva tournament. Can't be too upset. My boy Spieth choked, but oh well. Congrats to the Italian man.

One of the greatest links courses in the world. It just isnt pretty because it didnt rain there for weeks and they dont water the fairways but its a very tough challenge for any golfer.
Tiger played great and there is no doubt in my mind that he is going to win a tournament again. I am afraid that the pressure of closing it out got to him on the 12th and 13th holes. Just when he saw his name at the top of the leaderboard he hit his 2 worst iron shots of the day off the tee. Too bad. He did play a lot better than Speith did. Now, he was a disaster today.

It's a different venue than the plush green courses we're used to. Experience is a must and getting the ball to bounce the right way can make or break a round. Tom Watson was nearing 60 and came within a putt of winning a few years ago. One mistake and your chances of winning an Open are gone. It's refreshing to watch golfers use skill rather than overpowering a course.

Yeah, there's definitely no skill involved unless they play link style golf. lol

Of course there's skill involved in golf other than Links play. However, more skill and experience are necessary on Links courses.

One could also easily make an argument that there is a lot more luck involved with links golf. Crazy bounces have a huge impact on deciding who will win. I do think fast links courses can let the shorter hitters compete more easily than on a course like Augusta National.

However, its a real stretch to say that more skill is needed to play on links courses. I promise you that Shinnecock Hills was a tougher test than Carnouste was. Hell, no golfer could break par on that course. Winning there took an immense amount of skill.
