The only thing I would say to that is that my guess is pro-MMA guys would fair better against pro-boxers than the other way around. Not in every fight, of course. But in general. Just too much to learn in a short period of time.
I would agree with that. This isn't a hit on boxing but there are more parts to MMA. Standing, wrestling, chokes, clinch, are all methods of taking a fighter out. While boxing is extremely technical and also has variables, if you put him up against an all American wrestler, or a black belt jiu jitsu fighter the boxer only has one chance and that's to land a knockout punch.
Most MMA fighters have some sort of boxing or punching experience, while I'm guessing most boxers don't have a lot of training in wrestling or standard submission defense.
