The 2024-25 Phoenix Suns Thread

Dreaming about the defensive potential of a Maluach/Williams/Fleming and Dunn frontcourt.

Suns aren't done. They traded two picks in the 50's to the Dubs for the 41 pick.
Fleming favors comparatively to Siakam / Toppin, according to nbadraft.net. 39% from 3 on 4.5 attempts per game. Only guy in the draft with 40 dunks and 50 threes last season. 6'8" barefoot, with a 7.5" wingspan. How does this guy slip to the 2nd?
Then they went and got the best pure shooter in the draft.

I was hoping the pick would be Brea. IDK about best pure shooter (that's probably Kon), but maybe the most lethal 3pt shooter in the draft, in the least. Supposedly an improving defender. Good size at the wing. Average athleticism. Kentucky product so you know he's gotta be hyped to play with Book. To get a guy who is an incredible 3pt shooter at his size at 41 is great value.
Suns may have gotten one of the steals of FA by inking Nigel Hayes-Davis to a modest one-year deal. Just turned 30 and is coming into his own as a player. 6'8" with a great wingspan. Plays great team defense, solid individual D, and can shoot the lights out (damn near 50/40/90 split). Helped his team to the last two Euroleague titles, all-league first team both years, and won the Finals MVP.

Hoping he brings that PJ Tucker vibe

He's not a defensive hound or rebounder like Tucker. By all accounts he's a smooth scorer who can hold his own on D, but not a defensive stopper by any means. High basketball IQ, but average athleticism. Poor leaper. Maybe more of a Kyle Anderson type, but with a bit more quickness and a better shooter.
Someone thinks we won the KD trade by a wide margin. Very high on Maluach.

I heard the Celtics wanted him at 32 and traded out of 33 because the Suns grabbed him. He has really nice shooting form. Celtics maybe should have pulled the trigger for him at 1-28 instead of Hugo Gonzalez. But I'm no Brad Stevens.
Book extension is official. 2 years / $150Million. Crazy money.

Meanwhile, a decision on Beal is expected within the next two days

The previous report was false: it's now official. 2 years, $145M extension.
This Beal buyout hold is crazy; either the Suns want him to forfeit more money than what was reported, or he still hasn't decided on what team he's gonna sign with after the buyout.
Beal buyout is reportedly being finalized. He's forfeiting close to $14M to help the Suns be able to stretch the buyout over 5 years and get under the 2nd apron. Beal will then sign a 2-year deal with Clippers for $11M.

My suspicions were warranted - Suns wanted him to forfeit more money, and Beal wasn't having it.
