Bill Simmons isn't holding back against what Mike Golic said about him. Holy s**t!

You don't have to replace Thompson. They have both guys. That's my point. Varejao, Waiters, Marion, Thompson...that's a helluva supporting cast to go along with LeBron, Love, & Kyrie.

Well, Cavs don't have any other center - that's why I replaced Thompson. Give me: Reggie Jackson, Collison, Adams, Perry Jones for Thompson, Varejao, Marion, Waiters.

...and I'm not denying that's a good supporting cast. But, they have to fit together. This team didn't have Lebron or Love last year - but they had Deng, Spencer Hawes, CJ Miles, Jarrett Jack - and played .410 against Eastern Conf. last year and it is well known fact that Kyrie and Waiters don't play winning basketball. Love doesn't play defense. So, there will be a learning process. That's why ppl downplay their chances.

I will say it right now...if Kyrie doesn't show improvements - Lebron will eventually take the reigns and run the offense himself. This team is still going to be a really good team.

And, Kyrie will get to experience quite a few playoff games this season and won't be asking in game 2 of regular season if this is what a playoff game feels like.

I think Harden is the best offensive 2 guard in basketball but that Klay is the top all around player. His defense has just gotten so much better over the past 2 years.

Pete... realistically... do you think the Warriors have a shot at the NBA title this year?

Yes. I posted in the Warriors thread during the preseason that my jaw hit the floor when I saw what they were doing offensively. Their player and ball movement is incredible. They looked like the Spurs, except with arguably the 2 best shooters in the game.

EVERYTHING hinges on Andrew Bogut's health come playoff time. All of the other pieces are there, but he's historically fragile, and he'd be the hardest player to replace.

Other than that, the only reason that I'd pick against the Warriors is that a team usually has to lose relatively deep in the playoffs before they get over the hump, and the Dubs haven't done that yet. But I love what Kerr is doing up there.

I agree about health and Bogut specifically. He really does so much for the team in terms of defense, rebounding, and is an excellent passer too. Just pray for the team to stay healthy.

2 weeks in last year - 76ers looked like top 3 seed in the East - so what can go wrong when we reach to conclusions 1 week into the season this year? lol

I like Bill Simmons - at least he says what he sees (something most ppl at ESPN massively fail to do).

I do too which is what pisses me off about what Golic said because they took what Bill said entirely out of context and ignored what else he said. Piss poor journalism from ESPNs big two radio personalities.

Simmons is a biased homer POS that spews hate and crap at whatever he chooses. He deserves no respect just because someone pointed his own weapon at him and he got his feelings hurt.

Yea...I read the transcript and though I think Bill Simmons contradicted himself during his appearance on Cowherd show - there was no reason for Golic to accuse Bill of "Grabbing a headline which something I know he loves to do" - when the whole of ESPN is famous for doing just that.

I think Bill Simmons is one of the few dudes on ESPN who will say what majority of the ppl are thinking - but can't express or aren't willing to admit. You can disagree with him...but he's paid to give his opinions and doesn't wuss out like 99% of TV personalities. That's why I like Barkley too - but he can say some really idiotic things because he's often talking before thinking. With Simmons - there is a thoughtful process - most of the time.
I don't know if you guys caught Inside the NBA last night but Barkley said he was going to fast until the Lakers win a game.

I doubt he can hold out that long.

lol saw that...Charles better hope they win at home against Hornets.

Btw...I think Lakers will get better. They won 25 games last season without Kobe. Pau Gasol was playing hurt too last year - replacing him with healthy Boozer is a lateral move. They lost couple other guys but added Lin and Ed Davis as well - and fired Mr. Pringles. I think their schedule is awfully tough right now but they'll bounce back. Randle's injury hurts. But, Kobe needs a few games to get his legs back.

D'Antoni's a muuuuuch better coach than Scott. This is running the most jaw-droppingly antiquated stuff on both ends of the court. It's not just a matter of there not being talent..it's that on top of that, the X's and O's stuff is awful.

The Lakers coach right now is basically Mike Singletary/Jimmy Raye.
