I don't understand this. How come he didn't get the 300-400 mill longterm deal?

MLB Network was just saying they believe the lockout had a bit to do with it, so he signed this shorter deal with hopes of eventually landing a 10+ year deal.

That NL East is gonna be wild. Hell the NL in general. The Central has a few solid teams (STL/MIL), but the NL West. Dodgers (LOADED), Giants (can they repeat what they did last year?), Padres (amazing if Tatis can stop being dumb), Rockies added Bryant. And then the NL East. Braves/Mets/Phillies are all loaded. Phillies need pitching. Braves have a ton of solid young pitching. Mets? deGrom/Scherzer/Bassitt/Walker/Carrasco? Phew.

Gonna be a fun season.

Trying to buy a championship like LA I see.
I checked. in on Youtube and it was reported the Yankees were close to signing Story. Now, ESPN reports that Story signed with the Red Sox.

First time the team has ever gone over the luxury tax. Had to go all in and not waste Harpers prime
Apparently he forgot it was a business.

OOOOOH HEEEEEEEEEELLLL NO

I like it

[In addition, the deal also essentially has a Shohei Ohtani rule with the designated hitter becoming universal in the new collective bargaining agreement. The new rule stipulates that if the starting pitcher is also hitting in the lineup, then that player remains as the DH even if he is pulled from the start. Thus, if Ohtani, say, pitched five innings, he would still hit through the entire game. This rule is for the life of the new CBA, not just for 2022 and the hope is to promote more two-way players.
