Manfred is definitely the worst commissioner in American major sports. Yikes.

I've thought this for a while for many reasons. And Goodell is just as bad. The difference is even though Goodell makes almost equally stupid decisions, he's at least smart enough to keep the sport going. Manfred couldn't find a way to do that, and makes stupid decisions. Mostly he doesn't care, or seem to understand, what the actual fans of the game care about and want to see.
so when they cancel the first 2 series of the year how do they fix where some teams would have played 5 games and some 6?

They will make it so every team plays the same number of games total if that's deleting games for future series.

Wouldn't be surprised if they delete the entire month of April.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't start playing till summer. The owners need to get over themselves, they won the last two agreements easily because of the incompetence at the top of the MLBPA, that won't happen this time.

Yeah this is the dude who said in fall in a letter to fans "I am so disappointed". Terrible letter. Imagine seeing that letter if you are a player it's like he's calling out the players to the fans as if that will save him face. Only face to be saved is as commish is guiding to an agreement with no missed games. You do that by not thoroughly pissing off one side like he did prior to any negotiations. Just terrible.
I really think as we get closer to missed games owners will start to panic that's when a deal will get done. We may miss some games but once that happens they'll be begging for a deal. No one wins from missed games not fans, owners or players. It's like mutually assured destruction.
I think Manfred has a really difficult time understanding optics and public perception....which of course are terrible attributes for the commissioner of a sport. But I really think that as far as this strike stuff goes, people are unfairly targeting him more than the owners. Manfred really just is a mouthpiece for the owners. While I am in no way saying he is blameless, I think that this whole fiasco of negotiations arent necessarily his fault.

He's been a dips**t since the moment he took the the job. Dan LeBatard torched his ass in an interview a few years ago and it was just epic seeing how incompetent and ignorant he really is.

These talks should have happened over a month ago.

Owners tried to sneak some details in the last proposal that the players did not see in the others.

This was a strategic move by the owners that horribly backfired.

Sad

Kalamazoo Growlers place a lifetime ban on Rob Manfred for "trying to ruin baseball"
Everyone's a tough guy until games and dollars start to get torched. Won't take long then. Players are in more of a position of strength than owners. Holding out a month unpaid vacation to get a lot better $$$$ deal. Sure. Owners lose as soon as the games start to get skipped. The more games skipped, the more they lose.
