Congrats to the Spurs!! They always seem to be the team that flys under the radar and when its all said and done they are right there at the championship. None of those players have ego's and put the team first, just like the niners. Both the Spurs and Heat are old, or getting old, but the coaching staff of the Spurs did the right thing by supplementing their vets with younger guys that can contribute, just like the niners. I dunno if Duncan retires at 38 but what a way to go if he decides to. I don't know that the Spurs win another title if Duncan does retire.

Maybe Popavich needs to meet with the coaching staff of the niners so they know how to utilize the talent

Great win for the Spurs. They absolutely dominated the series. I am happy because the spurs have always been considered boring basketball, but many fans woke up and realized its real basketball. Design plays, no one star dominating a series, execute team basketball. Very refreshing in a world of NBA where they usually just clear it out and wait for the superstar to go one on one. I was amazed on how well the Spurs shot the baskeball. It is like they never missed.

One man isn't going to beat a complete team like the Spurs. James was going to have to score 100 points by himself and that wasn't happening which is why they left him one-on-one most of the night and Leonard did an awesome job defending him anyway. You could see it in the heat players though, they were tired and flustered and they knew they weren't going to beat the Spurs. James spent all of his energy in that 1st quarter putting the heat up big, he should have saved it for the 4th quarter and maybe they had a chance.

Hats off to the Spurs!!!!
what are the chances the spurs make another run next year? there going to be even scarier

So glad that Duncan is getting another ring. Greatest power forward to ever play the game.

More like Center Forward.
Agreed. One of the most mellow guys in the NBA. Never hear about him at all and never has drama attached to him. The Spurs players are just all good-character guys which is why they are successful on and off the court. I can gaurantee though that when/if Duncan retires, there won't be a "THE DECISION" show.

Their players are loyal to. I think I read that Manu wasn't going to play for anyone else when his contract expired last year and was going to retire but the Spurs convinced him to come back on a short deal (1 or 2 years I think). What a way for him to finally retire to when/if he does than with his 5th ring.

I guess it would depend on of Pop, Duncan, Parker, and Manu return. I didn't realize Duncan was 38 but didn't hear the announcers at all during the series mentioning of him retiring, unless I missed it. But when those 4 have been together they were always in the playoffs....17 straight seasons I think? Now that is a RUN that can't be matched in any sport.

This is the only team that I can remember in this decade where they didn't have to bring in a superstar to win their rings. All 3 of them started together as ordinary players, stuck together, and became superstars together. You don't have that kind of cohesion anymore. The Spurs are going to be the last team to do that. Teams nowadays have to build their championship team by signing, already made, superstars but sometimes that doesn't work.

7 years! I am more impressed with the Spurs defense. Team has a lot of hustle. I think they spend less energy on offense due to ball movement and spend that energy on defense. They played very solid defense on MIA and Leonard is a big reason that allows them to do that. Green was on of their best defenders a few years ago. They teach all of thier players how to shoot and pass. Not much to teach on defense besides hustle and SA hustles.

Great victory and redemption.

BTW, I was laughing at the early game interview by Lebron about only playing best when their backs are to the wall. Was a little worried when they were up by 14 but felt SA had it in the bag once it was within seven because most of thier misses were wide open looks. Spokes gambled on starting his best scorers. It worked, but the bench is also a part of the team and Bosh, James, and Wade never realized that during the decision.

Oh, and Ginobli is effing badass.

The heat (mainly Bron) used up all their energy in the 1st quarter and it helped that the Spurs were missing their shots. When the Spurs got rolling (thanks to Manu's big 3-pointer) there was no other outcome.

It's a whole lot easier in basketball, though, seeing as how more than half the teams make the playoffs lol

What the niners did through the 80's and 90's is the most impressive, IMO.

Oh....LoL. Nevermind.
It's really amazing what the Spurs did. Instead of blowing it up after a heartbreaking loss in which they let the championship slip through their hands, they retooled over the summer and got even better to come back to the Finals and DOMINATE the same team they loss to last year.

They epitomize working hard and especially working together as a TEAM which reflected in the beautiful basketball and ball movement they displayed all year and this postseason.

Not a Spurs fan, in fact, after my Dubs got eliminated, I wanted KD to go get his ring, but when the confetti fell last night, I couldn't help but clap for the team that was clearly the best in the league and won fair and square, classy and dignified as always.

Hats off to Kawhi Leonard, the FMVP and a rising star in this league and also to Duncan and Pop - I'm not sure if they're retiring this year or after the next but good on them for capping off legendary careers.

Now off to FA and the draft!

What they showed was that they are the best team without any question. What they showed more was how to play basketball. Hope their play in this year's playoffs and Finals sparks an era towards team basketball and away from the 1-on-1 everyone move out of my way style.

One thing I loved was that Battier tried to come in and make the game rough. All he did was piss Manu off even more into channeling his legs from 10 years ago.
joe dumars, chauncey billups and kawhi leonard. your only 3 nba finals mvps to get the award before ever being an nba all star.

That's impressive. Then the Lakers had to rip their hearts out.
