Crowder isn't Hayward but he 'could' make this team better in a lot of ways.
And honestly I don't know how the trade exception works.

I think Olynyk would be a great signing for the Jazz. He is only 26.
No thanks.
Olynyk looks like if someone put a woman's head on Greg Ostertag's body. Plus hes Canadian.
lol He can also play. Not many 7 footers in this world shoot over 35% on 3's, 50% on all shots, and have the game of Olynyk. Maybe not an All Star but would get a lot of minutes on this team.
All ive ever heard from Celtics fans is that he was basically a joke. When he single handedly won that game 7 for Boston this year, the crowd was laughing more than cheering, like it was absurd that a team could allow Olynyk to go nuts like that.
All I know is there are several teams that will be in the hunt for his services. I would trust that more than the Celtics fans you have heard from. He can shoot. He is 7 feet. Again, not many of those around.

I've never heard Olynk is a joke. He is solid and may even get a little better the next couple of years. Good off of the bench.

Just Crowder?
To be fair Hayward could have just signed and left. This way we at least get something back. I'm more than happy with Crowder. A great defender that shot 40% from three with arguably one of the best contracts in all of basketball. Yeah I'm fine with that.
Let's not forget that it also would create a $23mm trade exception which is HUGE!
I may be wrong on this but I dont think the trade exemption benefits the Jazz all that much because they are not close to the Cap or going into the luxury tax area. Now, if they plan on going on a spending spree to go over the cap this could help in future trades. Not an expert on this but I think it may not be as big as some would think

I guess 99 that Pat Riley doesnt think Olynyk is a joke since he is giving him 50 Million dollars to play for the Heat.

Im good. The Heat can have him. 7 footers who cant protect the rim or rebound aren't that useful IMO. Hes good for the occasional 3 pointer and driving the line against a mediocre defender, but thats about it.

Good for him. His team also isn't even contending in a weak conference, and hasn't had any success without LeBron in over a decade.

So LeBron chooses a different city to build his super team. What would the Heat have done since the 2006 Finals?

99 .. Im sure you know about a player more than a guy who has been NBA exec of the year, NBA Coach of the Year, and has won 3 titles in Miami. You know.. the guy who won a title before Lebron ever was there.
I knew there would be huge interest from teams on Olynyk because the kid can play. Period. He isnt a superstar by any means but there isnt a team in the NBA that he wouldnt get considerable minutes for. The Jazz could really have used someone like him which was my original point.

Just like how Phil Jackson could be trusted to make brilliant signings? I dont buy that Riley cant make a bad signing, just because of his past success. Olynyk is an average at best role player off the bench. Ill spend that 50 million elsewhere.

Comparing one of the all time great Execs to a total bust. Hillarious. Of COURSE anyone can make a bad signing. But, once again, I said there would be a lot of interest in Olynyk and that proved out when one of the top Execs in the league who has won multiple championships acted quickly and gave him 50 Million dollars. This was about the player and not about a debate on how good Pat Riley is. I do think its crazy that you try to diminish Riley's greatness because he hasnt won a title without Lebron in 10 years though.
Olynyk would get a lot minutes on the Warriors as a backup stretch 4 and would start on most teams in the league including the Jazz. Is he s superstar? Obviously not. Is he better than an average role player? Well... most "average role players" cant take over a game like he did against Cleveland and win a game virtually by himself.

Talks of a sign and trade died down yesterday, and Bradley was traded this morning. Oh well, I'm sure Ainge wanted Favors for Jae, which I wouldn't do.
Last night's summer league game was another good one. Exum and Mitchell were awesome once again, and I think Eric Griffin has earned a tryout.
At halftime Mitchell asked to guard Tatum, then shut him down. I love how quick his hands are. Lots of steals. He and Rubio will create a lot of fast breaks
