Could never see a Sugar Ray Leonard or Ali end a fight like that, can't believe some of you think nothing is wrong what he did.
Nothing wrong with it at all. You're acting as if he kicked him in the groin while Joe Cortes wasn't looking and won the fight. Ortiz got knocked out for not paying attention to his opponent, his responsibility, no one elses. Seems like it's being made worse because of who did it. If MP did, I know Lampley and Merchant both would be slurping up MP's ball bag for taking advantage of his opponents not protecting himself because like Raymond, everybody loves MP. One guy is a cheapshot artist and the other is a tactician who seized the opportunity.
It's similar to how during Hurricane Katrina, Time magazine had pictures of black folks running out of a supermarket with food and the caption to the picture was "Residents of the 5th Ward seen stealing and looting food from a super market." 2 pages later, some "non blacks" are seen holding a loaf of bread, bottled water and some hot dogs. The caption? "Desperate for food, this couple is lucky to have FOUND some items to help sustain them until FEMA is there to help."
Sometimes its more of an issue with who's doing it than what was done and in this case, if it wasn't FM, some still would have a problem with it, but not as many as there are now with him winning that way.
MP, as in Manny Pacquaio?
Lol, you're not really bringing up the race card, are you? A black guy against a filipino? Really?
If Manny pulled this kind of s**t (which he won't), he'd get crucified in the court of fan opinion just as well.
There is no discrimination when it comes to class and sporting conduct.
No race card intended. I'm black.I dont need to be schooled on Filipinos and Blacks and race card issues and how the race card is overused in inappropriate situations. My point was that just how the perception of good and evil usually favors the guy who is more liked against the guy who is more hateable in a "benefit of the doubt" scenario.
The Time Magazine comparison I used is a classic case of how 2 things can happen, both equal, but be seen differently by who is doing it. MP has the world by the nuts so if in the same opportunity, would seize the chance because thats boxing but i think he'd get the benefit of the doubt quicker than FM because he's more likable. You may hate to hear that, but it's true. It's bloodsport. And if given the option, its gonna be your blood and not mine EVERY TIME I'm in the ring. This "a real man would 'wait for your opponent to get ready" business is some clown sht. EVERY FIGHTER in history knows this. If I wait, I'm late and I lose.
Just like how Pacquiao gets credit for beating old beaten fighters, some of which FM fought and beat up before him when they were closer to their prime, but its overlooked because he smiles and is a nice guy but it's FM who hand picks his fighters for easy wins. As I've said, I am not a FM fan. I love the sport of boxing and know double standards when I see them. You don't have to like it, but its true my man. It's true.
