Dunn is a big liability in LF and that's where he would have to play unless they are able to move Loney. In my opinion Dunn should be a DH in the AL. He would be perfect as the designated hitter for the Rays. That team needs someone to replace Carlos Pena for power and another LH bat.

while i agree with u, 1st base for the dodgers and moving loney via trade or to the outfield is logical. or hell, dunn cant be any worse than manny was...

Trading Loney could be a possibility but they would never move him to the outfield. He is an excellent defensive first baseman and that is where he will play. From what I've read the Cubs are a real possibility for Dunn

Jon Garland to Dodgers

Dodgers might be the surprise team next year as much as I hate to say it. Kershaw, Billingsley, Kuroda, Lilly, and Garland is a nice starting 5 and they have a terrific backend duo of Kuo and Broxton. If they get 1 more hitter look out.

I think Lilly and Kershaw are a tad overrated, though Kuroda, Billingsly, and Broxton are a pretty solid core to build around. As much as adding Garland sounds good, it would've sounded better 2-3 years ago...not as worried about him, though if they do add another bat, they probably will have the best batting lineup in the NL West

You must not watch the Dodgers that much. Kershaw is NOT overrated. In fact, outside of David Price he is probably the best young LH pitcher in the game. He is their ace.. not Kuroda or Billingsley. The Dodgers will be in the race next year. I would look for a bounce back year from Kemp and Broxton who both had off years in 2010.

cant be an ACE until u can consistently last in games. Kershaw has GREAT stuff but he throws too many pitches and gets pulled early and often.

Id say right now, Billingsley is their Ace. He has flashes of brilliance left and right but had a bad second half two seasons ago and average year last year.

Meh ur right. he is their ace. he will be their opening day starter.

Just the way Billingsley pitches against the giants...

Kershaw has 2.79 and 2.91 era last 2 years. He also just struck out 212 guys in 204 innings. He was 4th in the league in hits per 9 innings, 4th in the league in K's per 9 innings, 9th in the league in WAR for pitchers, 8th in the league in shutouts.. Oh.. he is 22 years old.

As far as how he pitched against the Giants... well I'd say pretty damn well. The Giants hit .176 off him. Their slugging average was.. and this is unreal.. .284. His whip against the World Champions was 0.996 Just amazing stats

The only pitcher on the Giants I wouldnt trade for Kershaw is Linceum. I would deal Cain for him I know that. He is that good now and could be a monster in a year or 2. Anyone who thinks he isnt their ace or thinks he is overrated just doesnt see him pitch much.

Kershaw is a great young pitcher, but he has alot of the same issues Jonathan Sanchez does. when hes on, hes REALLY hard to hit, but when his control issues are acting up, he struggles to go 6 innings. a big difference is Sanchez is 27, and Kershaw is 22, so he has more time to straighten things out.

Kershaw was top 10 in all the important stats in the NL. He is a #1 pitcher on most teams in baseball. Sanchez is a #3-4 starting pitcher. Yes they both have wildness issues but Kershaw is head and shoulders above Sanchez. It isnt even close.

Jonathan Sanchez had a pretty good year though John... 3.07 era with a 9.54 k/9 in almost 200 innings of work. Kershaws era was only 16 pts lower. Sanchez k'd about the same, and had the best Opp. Avg. in baseball.

their era's were in the same range, whip in the same range, k/9 same range, win/loss same range, opp avg same range, walks same range, etc. id rather have Kershaw obviously because of age, but its not really fair to say right now hes definitely a better pitcher than Sanchez and "its not even close".

Sanchez might have had one of the best seasons ever for someone who is so heavily criticized and supposedly "problem laden".

both are good, Kershaw has a brighter future. i agree there. in my fantasy league we can only keep 5 players, and my 5 happen to be Posey for 9 bucks, Josh Johnson for 17, McCutchen for 16, Ethier for 16, and Kershaw for 15.

good read on why Loney is overrated.

Trade J. Sanchez for that big bat. Sanchez proved he's not a big game pitcher.

Sanchez is good and in my opinion is as good as he is going to get. Kershaw is very good and has the potential to be a top 5 pitcher in baseball.

OK.. thats enough. I dont want to get into a "Brandon Belt" with you on this.

what im saying is right at this moment they are similar. i agreed with you that his potential is through the roof. im not talking about potential though, im talking right now. sooner or later, probably sooner, Kershaw will be the better pitcher no question, but right now they arent very far apart. look at 2010's stats for both. calling Kershaw "way better" wouldnt be a correct statement based on this past season.

and btw i also agree that i would trade any Giant outside Lincecum and Posey for him. MAYBE add Cain to that list for me.

I would think that any baseball exec would take Kershaw any day over Cain. He just has way more upside and lefties with his kind of stuff at his age are so tough to find. We can just agree to disagree on Kershaw vs Sanchez. I think stats dont tell the entire story even though they do favor Kershaw. Kershaw is their #1 and Sanchez is the Giants #3-4. There is added pressure in being a teams ace and the kid handled it very well.

fair enough. i would trade Sanchez for Kershaw in a heartbeat.

the main reason i said Cain may be worth more is that hes still young at age 26, and is about as consistent and solid as SP get in the majors. year after year you can count on him to go 200 innings, and keep you in about every game. hes very capable of going 7-9 innings any given day out, and obviously in the playoffs he comes up HUGE. thats alot of proven value to give up for alot of potential.

From what I've read the Cubs are a real possibility for Dunn

good read on why Loney is overrated.

I'm hearing they may non tender R.Martin as well. Like I said that core 4 is not looking as promising as it once did.

Without question their biggest question marks are in their everyday lineup. Their pitching will be excellent but they need a big bat in the middle of their lineup. They are very similar to the Giants in that respect.

Yay, Ryan Theriot. .

Cardinals Acquire Ryan Theriot

The Cardinals acquired infielder Ryan Theriot from the Dodgers for righty Blake Hawksworth, according to the Dodgers' official Twitter feed. Theriot was a non-tender candidate for the Dodgers in the wake of their Juan Uribe signing, but the Cardinals have a need for him. I imagine he'll mostly play second base in St. Louis.

Theriot, 31 next month, is intimately familiar with the NL Central after spending parts of six seasons with the Cubs. He was dealt to the Dodgers at the trade deadline this year along with Ted Lilly. Theriot struggled offensively at both stops, hitting a combined .270/.321/.312 in 640 plate appearances. He'll still be due a raise on this year's $2.6MM, a salary he was assigned after losing a February arbitration case.

Hawksworth, 28 in March, posted a 4.98 ERA, 6.1 K/9, 3.5 BB/9, 1.5 HR/9, and 51.5% groundball rate in 90 1/3 innings for the Cardinals this year.
DENVER -- Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki has reached a contract extension with the club through 2020, a Major League source with knowledge of the deal told MLB.com on Monday night.
