I would go like this for me. We lost our 2C(Kadri) and our fanbase was pissed that we could have gotten a decent one during the deadline and dangle our first round pick to address this hole. Add that Burakovsky(left FA), Helm(injured) and that really took a hit on our depth along with injury musical chairs on the defensive side. Makar, Nichuskin, Manson(D) were in and out of the lineup. Landeskog and Eric Johnson(D) are still out also. Not sure if they all come back healthy before the season ends. Oh well..
Honestly they might as well shelve Landy this season. Two knee surgeries for different issues in a few months is never a good sign and he wont be close to 100% if they bring him back for the playoff run.
This has just been one s**t show after another this year. Constant injuries, constant minor leaguers, constant lineup shuffling.
Throw in an over his head GM who can't get us the pieces we need to be successful and it's quite the combo. Mckinnon along with the rest of the team was visibly pissed off/discouraged by CMac's lack of moves at the deadline. It was apparent with how they played the day after the deadline in Dallas (nothing against a great team like the Stars but team didn't compete and they got destroyed) and these last couple of games since the dealine. We have some money and that's what the fanbase were screaming and I'm sure some of the players if they only use LTIR for both Landy and Manson to get some more help. They know window is now and once Mckinnon's salary kicks in next year, it will be even harder to afford good players. Players like Toews will probably be moved in the off season as we won't be able to extend him. It sucks, but the reality for this team is maybe squeak into the playoffs and then most likely be on the golf course shortly thereafter.
