This is horrible news: Apparently it's possible that the deaths of both Belak and Rypien were suicides.

It's not completely NHL news, but the crash of the plane carrying the KHL's Lokomotiv team killed a lot of former NHL players and a Sharks rookie prospect.

NOOO! That is horrific news to hear. What is going on with all the tragic hockey deaths this off-season?

Edit: Oh my goodness.. Skrastins, Pavol Demitra and Rusland Salei were among the victims.. just horrible horrible news.

That plane crash is a tragedy, and a huge loss for hockey. Karlis Skrastins has played on the Stars the last two seasons, I was always a big fan of Karlis, he was willing to put his body in front of a puck and help the team out wherever he could.

Saw the story about the crash this morning. Awful accident. My heart goes out to their families.

The Traverse City Prospects Tournament begins today and runs through the 14th. I know the Stars are normal participants in this prospects tourney. NHL Network will be televising some of the games, they will be showing the NY Rangers vs. St Louis Blues tonight at 6 pm CT

Well the preseason starts tonight

There are 4 games scheduled:
NSH @ FLA at 3:00pm CT
NSH @ FLA at 7:30pm CT
CAR @ BUF
OTT @ TOR (will be shown on NHL Network)

It's preseason but I will take it.....I need something to get my mind off the loss to Dallas

So far the Stars are looking great against the Habs

Morrow, Pardy, and Ryder with goals to make it 3-0 in the 1st period

The first line of Morrow/Ribs/Ryder are looking sharp, these guys look like they will play very well together.

Yeah, I've always liked the Ribs/Morrow combo but they've always been missing a 3rd. Ryder has history with Ribs so hopefully it will be a great line for us.
