New Jersey 96, Philadelphia 88 link

Wilt dominates, Jordan held in check as the Nets prevail.

Artest D's up MJ!!! 3 steals...no fouls

Is it just me, or is MJ not looking so great?

oe 42 point game, and........a bunch of 10 and 12 point games...

Maybe should have picked an older MJ.

I think that MJ was at his best in 90-91 or 91-92.

I think wis values him his best in 88-89

Probably. That was pre-triangle, so his assists were much higher.

Its his highest rated defensive year and one of his best in terms of paint scoring ability.

Interesting. I browsed their rating system briefly. It's very in depth. I love that they have stuff like "in paint scoring ability" as a rating.

From an era where most guys couldn't shoot, most guys were unathletic, except a few freaks....

NinerJohn, Rick Barry was a great player, but Barry was a sub .300 three point shooter for his career. So even though he was a legend at the free throw line, he doesn't really have elite range on his jumper. And that's what's killing his shooting percentages in this sim. He's shooting a horrible 3PG%

Danny Granger is a better three point shooter than Rick Barry ever was. This is the truth.

Crzy.. you obviously never saw Barry play because you dont have any clue on what you are talking about with this. He had only 1 year in the NBA where 3 pt shots even counted and that was his last year when he was basically washed up. He shot 33% that one year. Rick Barry was a f**king great shooter.

Relax John, Crzy and LA are B-Ball know-it-all's. They seen all the greats play, and know more than the rest of us. Its beyond me why they are not on NBA TV breaking down games.

PS
Barry can't hold Granger's jock

are we allowed to pick up a "free agent" as long as we drop someone on our current team?

I never said he wasn't a great shooter but he obviously didn't have three point range. Inside of the arc, sure.

Like you said, he shot 33% from behind the arc in the one year that threes counted int he NBA. For his era, that might have been pretty good, but 33% is still 33%. I'm not sure how you can argue with 33%. He also shot three pointers in the ABA, and didn't have any better success there.

Look, I know that three pointers didn't become fashionable until decades later.

And maybe if Rick Barry played in the modern era, he would develop a better three point shot

My point is...modern players are far better shooters.

I've been wondering that myself... Perhaps we should vote on it?

Rick Barry didn't have the range that Louie Dampier had in the ABA.

Or Darel Carrier. Or George Lehmann.

These guys were the Ray Allen's of the ABA.

Rick Barry was not a elite three point shooter.

lol. You're the king of the straw man argument aren't you. You know you can't handle a simple basketball argument when you start making snide comments instead of just discussing the topic.

Again, I never said Danny Granger was a better player than a Hall of Famer. I said he was a better 3 point shooter.

Craig Hodges is a better 3 point shooter than Michael Jordan. Does that make him a better player?
